Overview

Verizon is looking for a backend engineer to design, develop, and operate
- performance backend microservices. The role involves building scalable cloud infrastructure on AWS, containerizing services with Docker and Kubernetes, designing database schemas, and implementing robust CI/CD pipelines. Collaboration with
- end teams and mentoring junior developers are also expected.

What you’ll be doing

• Lead the design, development, and implementation of
  - performance backend microservices using Java and Spring Boot.
• Architect and manage scalable cloud infrastructure on AWS, with a strong emphasis on automation and reliability.
• Containerize and orchestrate backend services using Docker and Kubernetes.
• Design and optimize database schemas in My
  SQL and integrate with Open
  Search for complex search and analytics functionality.
• Develop and maintain robust CI/CD pipelines to ensure seamless and automated deployments.
• Collaborate with
  - end teams to define APIs and ensure smooth integration.
• Mentor junior backend developers and uphold best practices for code quality and system architecture.

What we’re looking for

• You will need to have:
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
• Experience as a backend Java developer.
• Deep expertise in Java and the Spring framework, with a focus on Spring Boot and microservices.
• Extensive,
  - on experience with AWS services such as Lambda, EC2, RDS, SQS, and SNS.
• Proficiency with Docker and a strong understanding of containerization principles.
• Expertise in designing and managing relational databases like My
  SQL.
• Proven experience with Open
  Search or Elasticsearch.
• Solid experience with Git and CI/CD tools.

• Even better if you have one or more of the following:
• Experience with
  - scale, distributed systems and
  - driven architecture (e. g. , Kafka, Rabbit
  MQ).
• Knowledge of software security best practices, including threat modeling and secure coding principles.
• Experience with testing automation frameworks (e. g. , JUnit, Mockito) and performance testing tools (e. g. , JMeter).
