Responsibilities

• Lead the development and implementation of the functional safety case for AI-based automotive features, ensuring compliance with ISO 21488 and ISO 8800.
• Collaborate with AI engineers, software developers, system architects, and hardware teams to integrate functional safety requirements into the design and development of automotive systems.
• Conduct comprehensive hazard analysis and risk assessment (HARA) to identify and mitigate safety risks related to AI-driven automotive features.
• Develop and maintain safety plans, safety requirements, and safety validation and verification plans for automotive applications.
• Perform safety analysis techniques such as FMEA, FTA, and HAZOP tailored to automotive systems.
• Ensure traceability of safety requirements throughout the development lifecycle from concept to production.
• Provide training and guidance to the project team on automotive functional safety principles and ISO 21488 best practices.
• Stay updated with advancements in automotive functional safety and AI technologies and apply this knowledge to improve safety processes and outcomes.

Qualifications

• Strong
  - solving skills and attention to detail with a focus on automotive applications.
• Certification in functional safety (e. g. , TÜV Functional Safety Engineer) is a plus.
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Automotive Engineering, or a related field.
• Minimum 5–7 years of experience in functional safety engineering within the automotive industry.
• In-depth understanding of ISO 21488 and ISO 8800 and their application to automotive systems.
• Experience with AI and machine learning technologies and their integration into
  - critical automotive systems.
• Proficiency in automotive safety analysis techniques (FMEA, FTA, HAZOP).
• Experience with
  - based design and verification in the automotive domain.
• Knowledge of the automotive software development lifecycle and agile methodologies.
• Experience with
  - critical automotive hardware design and verification.
