Responsibilities
- Lead the development and implementation of the functional safety case for AI-based automotive features, ensuring compliance with ISO 21488 and ISO 8800.
- Collaborate with AI engineers, software developers, system architects, and hardware teams to integrate functional safety requirements into the design and development of automotive systems.
- Conduct comprehensive hazard analysis and risk assessment (HARA) to identify and mitigate safety risks related to AI-driven automotive features.
- Develop and maintain safety plans, safety requirements, and safety validation and verification plans for automotive applications.
- Perform safety analysis techniques such as FMEA, FTA, and HAZOP tailored to automotive systems.
- Ensure traceability of safety requirements throughout the development lifecycle from concept to production.
- Provide training and guidance to the project team on automotive functional safety principles and ISO 21488 best practices.
- Stay updated with advancements in automotive functional safety and AI technologies and apply this knowledge to improve safety processes and outcomes.
Qualifications
- Strong
- solving skills and attention to detail with a focus on automotive applications. - Certification in functional safety (e. g. , TÜV Functional Safety Engineer) is a plus.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Automotive Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum 5–7 years of experience in functional safety engineering within the automotive industry.
- In-depth understanding of ISO 21488 and ISO 8800 and their application to automotive systems.
- Experience with AI and machine learning technologies and their integration into
- critical automotive systems. - Proficiency in automotive safety analysis techniques (FMEA, FTA, HAZOP).
- Experience with
- based design and verification in the automotive domain. - Knowledge of the automotive software development lifecycle and agile methodologies.
- Experience with
- critical automotive hardware design and verification.
