This role will be located at one of Discovery Land Company's locations: Costa Terra, set outside of Melides - Comporta.

What you will do

• Loading and unloading construction materials and moving materials to work areas;
• Spread and classify the topsoil with shovels and rakes;
• Plant new trees, flowers, grass and various plants;
• Complete the assigned tasks effectively and within the allotted time;
• Keep the equipment clean and organized;
• Report any damage to the truck, trailer or equipment immediately to the field supervisor;
• Represent the best interest of the company; maintain the highest level of integrity and professionalism;
• Perform a highly physical installation job consistently;
• Work as part of a team and take the lead;
• Service all garden equipment and machinery;
• Maintain a clean garden by clearing rubbish and litter from the garden and grounds;
• Understand and meet the deadlines of the production and project schedule without sacrificing great customer service or excellent quality;
• Maintain a clean and safe workplace and assist the team leader in maintaining an organized and stocked equipment trailer;
• Participate in training classes and seminars, as requested by management;
• Performs groundskeeping duties (e. g. , planting, mowing, cultivating, pruning, shaping, trimming, watering, spraying, etc. ) for the purpose of maintaining facilities in a safe and attractive manner, and protecting against erosion.

What are we looking for

• Minimum 9th year of schooling;
• Minimum of one year of gardening, landscape, or nursery experience;
• Knowledge of horticulture methods and materials, landscaping and cultivation of trees and woody plants;
• Ability to use hand and power tools applicable to trade;
• Ability to perform grounds construction;
• Skill in interpreting and completing landscape plans;
• Ability to lift and manipulate heavy objects, such as soil bags, gardening tools, and powered landscape equipment;
• Ability to read, understand, follow, and enforce safety procedures.
