Responsibilities
We are seeking a GIS Lead to drive innovation and efficiency across our environmental consultancy projects to join our team based in Lisbon or Porto, Portugal.
Beyond traditional mapping, this role will focus on leveraging GIS, remote sensing, and automation to optimize field surveys, enhance environmental analysis, and support
- driven
- making throughout project lifecycles.
We envisage success in this role to include:
- Lead geospatial strategy and oversee GIS, remote sensing, and data management across environmental projects.
- Design and implement efficient field data collection using mobile GIS, GPS, and drone technologies.
- Automate spatial data workflows and analysis using Python, R, or other scripting tools.
- Integrate earth observation, spectral analysis and remote sensing (satellite, UAV, Li
DAR) to enhance environmental and ecological assessments. - Conduct advanced spatial analyses to assess environmental impacts, constraints, and opportunities.
- Develop geodatabases, dashboards, and standardized data models ensuring consistency and quality.
- Produce clear maps, analytics, and visual tools to support internal teams and client
- making. - Mentor and train teams in GIS applications, automation, and geospatial best practices.
- Support business development and proposals by defining GIS scopes, innovations, and
- adds.
Qualifications
To be successful in this dynamic opportunity, we envision that your career journey to date will include a minimum 8 years of professional experience in GIS and remote sensing, preferably within environmental consultancy, partnered with Bachelor’s or Master’s in Geography, Geomatics, Environmental or Civil Engineering, or related field.
- Advanced proficiency in GIS software (Arc
GIS Pro, QGIS) and remote sensing tools. Specific training will be advantageous. - Experience automating workflows and analyses using scripting (Python, R, Model
Builder, etc. ).
