POSITION SUMMARY
The Global Advanced Manufacturing Engineer for Heaters is a specialist in this product and is considered a SME. This position, in conjunction with Engineering Groups, develops new products, manufacturing technologies, and implements strategies to support new processes and technology launches for Heaters and related products. The engineer establishes global manufacturing standards and helps plants solve manufacturing process issues. The ideal environment for this role is within the Product Development Engineering Team, with close collaboration expected.
KEY ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Collaborate with Engineering Groups to develop e
Heater products. - Work with R&D to develop engineering guidelines and standards.
- Participate in LPPD Workshops to ensure product and process robustness.
- Implement manufacturing best practices and lessons learned into new designs.
- Review and approve engineering designs and manufacturing concepts.
- Develop specifications for flexible manufacturing systems to meet customer needs.
- Create innovative processes for global implementation.
- Lead technical discussions with
- functional teams, management, and customers. - Design and assemble heaters and test equipment, developing equipment specifications.
- Collaborate with plants on equipment scope of work and acceptance criteria.
- Support prototype development and testing, ensuring smooth knowledge transfer.
- Develop manufacturing standards, base BOPs, and train plant personnel.
- Serve as technical lead for the Heater council and mentor plants in
- solving. - Represent the global AME group at ETTS plants and build confidence among stakeholders.
- Maintain dashboards on global capacity and utilization.
JOB REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS
- Minimum of 5 years of engineering experience at the plant level, with electromechanical device expertise.
- Understanding of heat exchangers principles.
- Advanced knowledge in electricity, electromechanical systems, and converting electrical energy into thermal energy.
- Knowledge of heating elements, high voltage connections, and heat transfer methods.
- Experience with connections like soldering and
- welding. - Ability to test electromechanical systems and analyze performance data.
- Experience conducting design reviews for DFM, DFA, and value methodologies.
- In-depth knowledge of automation and robotics.
- Working knowledge of A-SPICE and EDF processes.
- Willingness to travel up to 50% of the time.
Education, Skills, and Knowledge Requirements:
- Analytical and creative working approach.
- Deep knowledge of GD&T.
- Understanding of manufacturing processes, especially in electric and hybrid systems.
- Familiarity with lean manufacturing principles.
- Knowledge of engineering financials, including CAPEX planning and equipment costing.
- Strong understanding of quality systems, change management, and related principles.
- Working knowledge of IATF, FMEA, DFM/DFA, and APQP.
- Proficiency in root cause analysis and 8D
- solving. - Effective communication skills for internal and external stakeholders.
- Knowledge of health and safety procedures.
