WHO YOU’LL WORK WITH
The Global Consumer Lab is led

- day by a dedicated Practice Director and Senior Manager, with support from a rotational Practice Consultant(s) and Knowledge Specialist(s). Bain’s Global Consumer Lab is Bain’s center for insight and foresight, focused on developing
- rich content for client conversations and supporting case teams with challenging assumptions and methodologies to evidence consumer behaviours. We conduct consumer closeness research for
- facing clients (primarily CP and Retail) and for Bain to understand what consumers/shoppers are saying, doing and feeling.
The Global Consumer Lab is a young group (about 3 years old) with traction and high visibility. We work closely with partners, managers and
- facing teams to bring Bain’s experience to bear and help win
- driven projects. The team maintains a strong, inclusive culture with a high Net Promoter Score (NPS).

WHERE YOU’LL FIT WITHIN THE TEAM
The role sits at the intersection of the Consumer Products practice and Retail practice. These are two of Bain’s
- growing industry practice areas and the role also touches other
- facing/B2C practices at Bain (e. g. , PEG CPR, Healthcare, Financial Services, Tech) and both the Strategy, Customer and ESG practices.
WHAT YOU’LL DO
The Global Consumer Lab Practice Consultant will have the following key interactions:
- Supervisor: Global Consumer Lab Director
- Close contact with leadership
- Expert Partner, Co-founder of Consumer Lab and responsible for interlock of AIS, CP, Retail and Consumer Lab
- Global Practice EVP of Retail and Co-founder of Consumer Lab
- Global Practice Leaders
- Other CP, Retail, PEG partners depending on the pipeline of IP/research and proposals
- Collaborate & coach
- IP teams (client-facing consultants staffed temporarily on Practice IP/research)
- Knowledge Specialists across the 3 regions
- Bain Consumer Lab Co
E BCN team in India
Primary activities are global in nature (EMEA, APAC, US) and fall into the following streams (not exhaustive):
IP development
- IP development/ Synthesis of research: Conduct consumer research, analyze data and synthesize findings with the Senior Manager. Compile research into cohesive POVs on consumer topics and codify insights to enhance content.
- Thought-leadership workshops: Support partners, case teams and clients with consumer insights and trends, providing latest IP/research and tailoring examples by sector/geography.
- Consumer pulse surveys: Write, manage, and execute surveys with 3rd party vendors and BCN; synthesize results into key consumer themes for internal use and external commercialization.
- External secondary research: Conduct literature reviews on latest consumer trends to support or refute findings.
Commercialization of Consumer Lab
- Proposal/CD and pitches: Develop POVs on consumer trends and the Consumer Lab approach, including workplans and staffing, with support from Director and Expert Partner.
- Conduct consumer closeness research: Manage 1:1 interviews, mobile ethnography or AI-enabled studies in collaboration with case teams; help extract insights and implications for strategy/case context.
- Consumer mindsets: Synthesize and define targetable consumer cohorts to guide engagement and offerings with AIS and other teams where applicable.
- Commercial tracking: Develop case summaries of work involving Consumer Lab and tag cases with Knowledge Specialists.
Operations
- Support key Leadership Team meetings and Steering Committee plans with slide creation and visualization of progress.
- Act as Consumer Lab “help desk” by directing questions to the Co

- day operations, including vendor management, updates for leadership, backlog summaries, etc. - Synthesize trend inputs into weekly digest for Consumer Lab affiliates and contribute to marketing/internal communications and content sessions with Affiliates from Retail, CP and PEG practices.
- Support branding and marketing of Consumer Lab products and services, including deployment and commercialization of IP, articles, videos, and other materials.
Tool/Sources exploration
- Maintain awareness of new tools and data subscriptions to inform research, including external providers and internal systems.

- Manage personal workload for a sustainable pace
- Support teammates’ professional growth by sharing knowledge and giving feedback
- Maintain a positive, proactive team culture and strong service mindset
ABOUT YOU
- Current or recent Bain consulting experience at the Consultant level
- MBA or master’s degree with outstanding academic credentials preferred
- Experience or strong interest in the Consumer Products Retail sectors
- Passion and curiosity about consumers
- Experience understanding consumers (qual or quant) is a plus
- Entrepreneurial spirit in identifying new ways to study consumers and run
