Global Payroll Transition Specialist
We are looking for a Global Payroll Transition Specialist based in Portugal to support and oversee the successful transition of client payrolls from incumbent payroll providers to our payroll ecosystem across multiple countries.
This role is focused on execution oversight and delivery assurance. You will not configure payroll systems or run payrolls directly. Instead, you will ensure that payroll teams, local providers, and internal stakeholders complete all transition activities accurately, on time, and in line with agreed quality standards.

- day transition owner, coordinating activities, tracking progress, managing risks, and providing clear status updates to clients and internal teams throughout the transition lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities
Payroll Transition Coordination:
- Coordinate

- end payroll transitions from
- off through
- live and handover;
- Track transition timelines, milestones, dependencies, and deliverables for international payroll migrations;
- Ensure all transition activities are completed within agreed deadlines and scope.
Oversight & Quality Assurance:
- Oversee payroll configuration and setup activities performed by payroll operations teams and local/in-country providers;
- Ensure payroll teams complete data validation, testing, and parallel runs with accurate results;
- Review transition outcomes and ensure issues and discrepancies are identified and resolved prior to
- live;
- Support
- live readiness by validating that transition criteria and quality checks are met.
Client & Stakeholder Communication:
- Function as a key point of contact for clients during the payroll transition phase;
- Provide regular transition status updates, timelines, and progress reports;
- Communicate risks, dependencies, delays, and resolutions in a clear and structured manner;
- Coordinate with Payroll Operations, Compliance, Customer Success, Product, and
- party providers.
Risk & Issue Management:
- Identify transition risks, issues, and blockers early;
- Track actionsand follow up with responsible teams to drive timely resolution;
- Escalateissues appropriately when timelines, quality, or compliance may be impacted.
Documentation & Continuous Improvement
- Maintain transition documentation, trackers, and handover materials;
- Contribute toimproving transition templates, checklists, and
- practice guidelines;
- Support smooth handover to
- transition payroll support teams.
Required Qualifications:
- 3+ years of experience in payroll transitions or payroll implementations;
- Strong understanding of international payroll fundamentals, including payroll cycles, taxation, and statutory requirements;
- Experience supporting
- country payroll provider transitions;
- Proven ability to coordinate multiple stakeholders without direct line management responsibility;
- Strong organizational and project coordination skills;
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English;
- Comfortable working across time zones and with globally distributed teams.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Exposure to global or
- country payroll;
- Experience inpayroll Saa
S, HR technology, or managed payroll services;
- Payroll or
- related certifications (e. G. , CIPP, CPP, Prince2, Agile fundamentals);
- Additional languages
