Lead Golang Software Engineer, Commercial Systems

Join Canonical to lead the design, development, and operation of Golang services that power our Commercial Systems unit. The role is remote in the EMEA region and is an excellent opportunity to work with open‑source, cloud, and AI technologies.

Location

Remote – based in the EMEA region.

Responsibilities

• Develop engineering solutions leveraging Golang
• Lead technical designs, code reviews, and implementation
• Deploy and operate services developed by the team
• Coach, mentor, and offer career development feedback to colleagues
• Develop and evangelize great engineering and organizational practices

Qualifications

• Exceptional academic track record from high school and university
• Undergraduate degree in a technical subject or a compelling narrative about an alternative path
• Track record of exceeding expectations to achieve outstanding results
• Experience with software development in Golang
• Professional written and spoken English with excellent presentation skills
• Result‑oriented, with a personal drive to meet commitments
• Ability to travel internationally twice a year for company events up to two weeks long

Nice‑to‑have skills

• Performance engineering and security experience
• Experience with accounting, sales, sales operations, or other business roles
