The Role
Location: While this position is posted in a specific location, all of Oyster’s positions are fully remote, and you can work from home. Forever. To create the best experience for our new hire (you? !) this role does require that you are based within +1 / +3 UTC.
Oyster is looking for a
- performing Governance Risk & Compliance Lead to join the Governance Risk & Compliance Team, who can assist in keeping up with the demands of a growing global HR/tech company. In this role, you will primarily be responsible for supporting the
-
- day governance reporting, risk management and compliance program for Oyster, among other responsibilities, all of which will require critical thinking, innovation, and integrity.

Reporting to the Senior Managing Counsel & Director of Corporate Governance, Risk & Compliance, the Governance Risk & Compliance Lead will be responsible for, among other duties, the following.
Key Responsibilities
- Promote and maintain the governance compliance structure/program, including policies, procedures and preparation of periodic governance, risk and compliance reporting; Collaborate on compliance awareness plans and trainings.
- Collaborate
- functionally on legal, regulatory and compliance for risk identification to ensure legality with relevant jurisdictions and support business. - Design and implement the Risk Assurance Program with COSO framework on financial, strategic, operational, reputational, and legal; Perform the risk cycle on: identify, assess, manage and monitor risk.
- Promote continuous evolution of internal controls across the areas; Performance of the test of effectiveness over the procedures; Propose recommendations of improvements jointly with the areas.
- Act as a strategic risk and compliance advisor to the teams, providing clarity and guidance on complex challenges and partnering across functions.
- Manage SOC2 and SOC1 audits, additional external audits and controls as applicable (e. g B-Corp).
- Building and maintaining strong relationships within the Legal department and with
- functional departments. - Turn ambiguity into opportunity, using risk framework and compliance regulatory expertise to help Oyster scale into markets and growth with confidence and integrity.
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- 6+ years of experience in Governance, Risk, and Compliance, gained either
- house or at a Big Four accounting firm. - Experience in risk assessment and mitigation, including internal controls; Preferably financial controls.
- Prior experience in a multinational company or dealing with
- border legal issues. - Experienced in program and project management and strategic planning process, including requirements definition and business case production.
- Experienced in managing goals, metrics, and
- level reporting. - First-class attention to detail and reasoning with extreme organization and a proven work ethic and excellent communication skills.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, determination, and tenacity, along with a sense of humor.
- Remote-first advocate and passionate about creating change in the future of the work landscape.
- Demonstrates the ability to learn new things, work on a variety of issues, and work under pressure in order to add value to the company.
- Demonstrates enthusiasm for solving problems and adding value to the company.

- [BONUS] Prior experience in the GRC and/or Legal department.
- [BONUS] Proficient in Google Suite of products (Gmail, Google Doc, Google Sheets).
- [BONUS] Familiarity with a client relationship management system (such as Zendesk, Salesforce, Service
Now). - [BONUS] Previous experience working in Notion and Asana.
