FCiências. ID – Associação para a Investigação e Desenvolvimento de Ciências announced an international call for the recruitment of a Scientific Researcher with a Ph
D, in the category of Assistant Researcher, within the FCiências. ID Scientific Research Career. The role is linked to the projects ECHO, Ground
Work and Nitroscope, funded by the European Union’s Horizon Europe Programme under Grant Agreements 101112869, 101218207 and 101218902. The contract is of indefinite duration
- term, under the Portuguese Labour Code and Decree-Law No. 57/2016 (as amended).

Responsibilities / Work Plan

- ECHO:

activities related to citizen science recognition, dissemination of results, preparation of reports, project meetings, and related management activities. Works within WPs 1, 3, 4, 6, and 7.

- Nitroscope:

define strategies to assess nitrogen flows at local level, collect data/metadata for the Mediterranean ecoregion, contribute to dissemination, and assist in project reporting and management (WPs 1, 2, 3, 7).

- Groundwork:


- definition of RLGPs in living labs, dissemination, and project reporting/management (WPs 1, 4, 7).

Admission / Qualifications

- Open to Portuguese nationals, foreign and stateless persons with a doctoral degree in Environmental Sciences or related fields.

- Ph
D granted more than 5 years ago.

- Experience in R&D in Environmental Monitoring (information in CV/motivation letter).

- Experience in national/international scientific projects in Environmental Sciences/Applied Ecology (CV/motivation letter).

- Knowledge and experience in biomonitoring of reactive nitrogen and related bioindicators.

- Minimum scientific output:

at least 10 publications as a first author in
- reviewed journals.

- Laboratory R&D activity including environmental monitoring techniques.

- Knowledge of selective extraction techniques, identification of biological indicators, and environmental plant ecophysiology.

- Relevant training in Environmental Sciences, Applied Ecology, Science Communication, and Citizen Science.

- Experience in outreach activities in the scientific areas of the call.

- Experience in Science Management.

- Publications:

at least 15
- author publications in international journals.

- Proficiency in Portuguese and English (spoken and written).

Work Plan

The work plan includes activities in the three projects:

ECHO, Nitroscope, and Groundwork, as described in the responsibilities section above, aligned with project Work Packages (WPs).

Contract Duration

Full-time, indefinite duration
- term employment, starting November 2025, lasting until completion of the Work Plan in section IV. Initial trial period of 30 days.

Monthly Allowance

The gross monthly salary is 3, 501. 28 Euros, under an exclusive regime, plus holiday and Christmas allowances and a food allowance, with applicable statutory deductions.

Evaluation of Applications

- Selection based on scientific and curricular achievements in the last five years, considering quality and relevance of scientific production and
- indicated activities.

- Jury assessment with classifications 0–100%, with criteria including scientific publications, project participation, outreach and science communication, reference letters, relevance of publications to Work Plan, and possible interview (up to 10%).

- Interviews may be conducted for clarifications;
