About the Role
We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled Head of Accounting & Tax to lead the company’s financial reporting, accounting operations, and tax strategy.
This role is critical in ensuring compliance, accuracy, and efficiency across all financial processes in a dynamic, fast‑paced tech environment.
The ideal candidate combines strong technical accounting and tax knowledge with hands‑on experience in Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central (BC), the ability to lead teams, and a high degree of rigor in process optimisation. Experience in a Big Four firm is required to ensure strong technical foundations and exposure to best practices.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee accounting operations, including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll accounting, revenue recognition, and fixed assets.
- Ensure timely and accurate monthly and annual closings.
- Maintain and enforce robust accounting policies and internal controls.
- Lead the audit process with external auditors and manage documentation and compliance workflows.
Tax Management
- Corporate, indirect, and employee tax compliance across all relevant jurisdictions.
- Preparation and filing of tax returns, ensuring accuracy and compliance with local tax laws.
- Manage tax planning strategies and assess risks and opportunities.
- Interact with tax authorities and external advisors on audits, clarifications, and rulings.
Budgeting & Planning
- Lead the preparation, coordination, and consolidation of the annual budget.
- Monitor budget execution and provide periodic variance analysis.
- Partner with FP&A and business units to support forecasting, scenario analyses, and long‑term planning.
- Ensure data integrity and alignment between actuals and budget across functions.
Systems & Process Optimisation
- Serve as the internal expert for Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central (BC), ensuring best‑practice usage across modules.
- Lead process improvement initiatives, automation efforts, and integration projects within BC and related systems.
- Support data governance and ensure high‑quality financial information for reporting and analysis.
Team Leadership & Cross‑Functional Collaboration
- Lead, mentor, and develop the accounting and tax team, fostering a culture of excellence, accountability, and continuous improvement.
- Work closely with FP&A, Operations, Legal, HR, and Product teams to support business growth and strategic initiatives.
- Provide financial insight and technical expertise to support decision‑making and corporate development activities.
Requirements
Technical Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; Master’s degree or professional certification (CPA, CA, ROC, CTA, or equivalent) preferred.
- Minimum 3–4 years of experience in a Big Four firm (audit and/or tax).
- 8+ years of total experience in accounting and tax, preferably in tech, Saa
S, or high‑growth environments. - In‑depth knowledge of local accounting standards and tax frameworks.
- Strong experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central, including configuration, process mapping, and workflow optimisation.
- Strong leadership and team management capabilities.
- Excellent analytical, problem‑solving, and communication skills.
- High attention to detail with the ability to manage competing priorities.
- Comfortable operating in a fast‑paced, scaling organisation.
- Ability to work cross‑functionally and influence stakeholders at all levels.

Royal Basketball School is hiring for the Head of Sales and Marketing (Permanent Work From Home). This role is remote and focuses on driving enrollment in the school’s programs.
Responsibilities
- Develop a comprehensive marketing strategy (digital and physical) that aligns with the school’s objectives and targets the desired audience.
- Create a marketing campaign plan to increase brand awareness and attract potential students.
- Lead the sales and customer service teams in developing effective strategies that drive enrollment and retention.
- Set targets, monitor performance, and provide guidance and support to the teams.
- Oversee the school’s brand image and ensure consistency across all marketing and communication channels.
- Develop engaging and informative content that highlights the benefits and uniqueness of the offered programs.
- Utilise digital marketing channels, including social media, email marketing, and SEO.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in marketing, business administration, or a related field. A master’s degree is preferred.
- Marketing certification (preferred).
- 3–5 years proven experience in a senior leadership role overseeing both marketing and sales functions.
- Strong understanding of marketing (digital and physical) and sales principles, strategies, and tactics.
- Demonstrated track record of driving revenue growth and achieving targets.
- Excellent leadership and management skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire teams to achieve results.
- Strong analytical and strategic thinking abilities, with the ability to translate data into actionable insights and strategies.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships and influence stakeholders at all levels.
- Proactive and results‑oriented mindset, with the ability to drive change and lead organisational growth initiatives.
- Knowledge of digital marketing, social media, and emerging marketing technologies.
- Experience in the sports education industry is a plus.
Benefits

This is an on‑site role. The office is in Lisbon, Portugal. No remote or hybrid work is available.
Hiring Process
This role involves two interviews and a trial assignment. We aspire to ensure that no more than three days elapse between each stage, but delays may occur. Additional stages may be necessary based on internal policy or decision changes.
