What is the challenge about:

As Head of Engineering, you’ll be responsible for building and scaling the global engineering function of an
- focused company. This is a
- coach role — you’ll lead technical strategy and team growth, while still being
- on in designing systems, writing code, and shipping infrastructure.

You’ll work closely with strategists and product leads to build
- grade AI applications that are robust, scalable, and transformative.

What you’ll do:

Technology Leadership

• Design the technical foundation for scalable AI applications across domains like augmented intelligence, agentic workflows, and simulation.
• Drive development of an internal platform layer to unlock delivery speed and reusable value.
• Identify and evolve core technical primitives to move from bespoke delivery to compound innovation.

Engineering Leadership

• Define the technical architecture across AI, ML, backend, frontend, and data infrastructure.
• Establish best practices in version control, testing, CI/CD, documentation, and environment management.
• Ensure
  - term maintainability, scalability, and security across the stack.

Hands-On Execution

• Actively contribute code and infrastructure setup (e. G. , containerization, model integration, deployment pipelines).
• Collaborate on
  - quality delivery of AI-powered features across various use cases.
• Help turn client opportunities into robust and scalable tech solutions.

Team Building & Management

• Lead engineering hiring and build a
  - performing technical culture.
• Mentor and support engineers, implement lightweight delivery processes, and drive collaboration.

Quality & Delivery

• Own the engineering roadmap and work closely with product leadership to prioritize initiatives.
• Conduct code reviews, ensure technical excellence, and drive continuous improvement across workflows and performance.

What we are looking for:

• Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Computer Science or related field.
• 10+ years in software engineering, with 2+ years in a technical leadership role.
• Experience developing
  - grade AI tools or platforms for large U. S.companies.
• Background in consulting, agency, studio, or client delivery environments (not just
  - house product development).
• Strong skills in backend,
  - stack, or AI/ML development.
• Proficiency with Python and integrating LLMs via APIs.
• Hands-on with AI tooling such as Lang
  Chain, vector databases, and
  - augmented generation (RAG) workflows.
• Solid grasp of Dev
  Ops fundamentals:
  
  Docker, CI/CD, and cloud infrastructure (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
• Fluent in English with excellent communication skills.

This is a full remote position, open exclusively to candidates based in Portugal. You can work from anywhere in the country with no mandatory office days.
