Origins is seeking a strategic and technically adept Head of Engineering to lead our engineering department. This role is pivotal in driving the development and delivery of the Origins platform, and our regulatory and compliance services as well as strong collaboration with our AI & ML engine, ensuring scalability, reliability, and innovation. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in cloud infrastructure, software development, and team leadership, with a passion for sustainable fashion technology.

Key Responsibilities:

• Technical Leadership: Oversee the architectural design and implementation of scalable cloud solutions on platforms like Google Cloud Platform (GCP). Ensure best practices in infrastructure as code (Ia
  C), continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD), and security.
• Team Management: Lead, mentor, and expand a
  - performing engineering team. Foster a culture of collaboration, continuous learning, and excellence.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with product managers, designers, and other stakeholders to align engineering efforts with business goals.
• Project Oversight: Manage multiple engineering projects, ensuring timely delivery, quality standards, and performance adherence.
• Innovation: Stay abreast of emerging technologies and industry trends to drive innovation within the engineering team and the broader organisation.

Required Qualifications:

• Experience: Minimum of 7 years in software engineering, with at least 3 years in a leadership role. Proven experience in leading distributed engineering teams.
• Technical Proficiency: Strong expertise in cloud platforms (preferably GCP), containerisation (Docker, Kubernetes), and modern web technologies. Familiarity with databases like Postgre
  SQL and Mongo
  DB.
• Methodologies: Proficient in Agile/Scrum methodologies and Dev
  Ops practices.
• Soft Skills: Excellent communication,
  - solving, and
  - making skills. Ability to inspire and motivate teams.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
• Industry Knowledge: Understanding of the fashion industry’s supply chain and sustainability challenges is hugely advantageous.
• Certifications: Relevant certifications in cloud technologies or project management.
