Audax Renewables is recruiting a Head of Legal

Audax Renewables Portugal is seeking a sole Head of Legal to provide legal advice on operations in the electricity sector (and potential future gas). The ideal candidate will have a solid background in energy and commercial law, regulatory compliance and commercial risk management, with the ability to advise on contracts, corporate governance and regulatory issues in a dynamic and evolving environment. The role requires familiarity with Compliance and the ability to lead all legal matters across the board as the only legal professional in Audax Portugal. Strong communication, initiative, prioritization and the ability to meet demanding deadlines are essential.

Academic Requirements

- Law degree.

Requirements

• At least 7 years of general legal experience and at least 3 years in energy law, preferably in a law firm or in the legal team of an energy company.

• Knowledge of Portuguese energy regulation, especially in the electricity market.

• Experience interacting with regulatory bodies such as ERSE, Courts and Arbitration Centers and EU energy regulations.

• Strong negotiation and contractual drafting skills.

• Ability to work in a dynamic environment and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams.

• Knowledge and experience in compliance matters; knowledge of ISO 37301 (Certification of compliance management systems) is highly valued.

• Ability to accompany, guide and resolve employee queries on compliance and ethical conduct.

Duties

• Commercial Law: Advising on
  -
  - day operations and interactions with clients and counterparties.
• Regulatory Compliance: Ensuring company compliance with Portugal and EU energy regulations, including market rules, licensing and environmental requirements.
• Contract Management: Drafting, reviewing and negotiating power purchase agreements, grid connection contracts and supply agreements.
• Corporate and Commercial Law: Advising on corporate governance matters.
• Complaint, Litigation and Dispute Resolution: Identifying and managing legal risks, monitoring disputes and supporting alternative dispute resolution strategies, including management of customer and
  - party complaints.
• Regulatory and Stakeholder Relations: Interaction with regulatory authorities, industry bodies and government entities on policy and compliance matters.
• Risk Assessment: Identifying and mitigating legal risks related to operations, investments and business strategy.
• Monitoring and disseminating the Audax Portugal Group's Compliance program.
• Managing the company's complaints channel: analyzing, managing and resolving complaints in conjunction with the Compliance area.

Language requirements

- Portuguese: Native.

- Spanish: Fluent.

- English: Fluency is valued.
