HIL Architect – Automated Testing

Location: Lisbon, Portugal

Overview

We are seeking an Engineering Lead for Automated Testing to design and deliver modern testing frameworks across hardware and software products. This role is central to ensuring quality, reliability, and scalability through advanced test automation, including hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) systems and embedded platforms.

You’ll combine hands-on technical expertise with leadership responsibility , shaping the automation strategy, defining best practices, and mentoring a growing QA team. Working closely with software, hardware, and systems engineers, you’ll establish test solutions that span the entire product lifecycle—from early R&D through to production release.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the design and implementation of automated testing frameworks for embedded and software systems.
• Define and oversee

• Partner with
  - functional engineering teams to integrate automated testing across development cycles.
• Expand and maintain automated test coverage for

• Establish QA processes, methodologies, and automation strategies.
• Act as a technical authority in test automation, embedded systems, and functional testing.

Qualifications & Experience

• 10+ years of experience in software/embedded testing and test automation.
• Strong background in software development, with experience in web servers, embedded platforms, or similar environments.
• Proven success in designing and deploying

  - loop or equivalent automated testing systems.
• Hands-on expertise with modern test automation frameworks and tools.
• Demonstrated leadership experience in building and scaling QA or test automation teams.
• Ability to lead strategic testing initiatives in complex,

Preferred Experience

• System-level testing of embedded devices or integrated hardware/software systems.
• Background in automation for products with both hardware and software components.
• Experience in
