Reliability engineer
A reliability engineer is responsible for assessing, improving, and maintaining the reliability of systems, or processes to ensure they meet or exceed performance and safety standards. This role involves analyzing data, conducting reliability tests, implementing preventive measures, and collaborating with
- functional teams to achieve optimal system reliability.
Job Responsibilities
- Reliability Analysis:
- Analyze data to identify trends and patterns related to system performance and failure rates.
- Perform statistical analysis and use reliability engineering tools to assess product/system reliability.
- Develop tools to perform data analysis such as a new Dashboard with AI functionalities.
- Risk Assessment and Mitigation:
- Identify potential failure modes, risks, and vulnerabilities in products or systems.
- Develop and implement strategies to mitigate identified risks and improve reliability.
- Reliability Testing:
- Plan and execute reliability tests to evaluate the performance and durability of components, systems, or products.
- Monitor and document test results, failure modes, and related data.
- Root Cause Analysis (RCA):
- Investigate and determine the root causes of failures or performance issues.
- Develop corrective and preventive action plans to address identified issues.
- Design for Reliability (DFR):
- Collaborate with design and development teams to integrate reliability considerations into the product/system design phase.
- Provide input on material selection, manufacturing processes, and maintenance procedures to enhance reliability.
- Maintenance and Asset Management:
- Develop and implement maintenance strategies to extend the operational life of assets and equipment.
- Optimize maintenance schedules to minimize downtime and maximize reliability.
- Documentation and Reporting:
- Maintain accurate records of reliability tests, analysis results, and maintenance activities.
- Prepare and present reports to management and
- functional teams on reliability performance.
- Continuous Improvement:
- Identify opportunities for continuous improvement in reliability processes, procedures, and standards.
- Drive initiatives to enhance overall system reliability.
- Regulatory Compliance:
- Ensure compliance with industry standards, regulations, and safety requirements relevant to the products or systems being managed.
Skill and Qualifications
Data Visualization Tools: Proficiency in tools such as Power BI, Excel (advanced features: Pivot
Tables, Power Query, Power Pivot), Share
Point (Power Automate, Share
Point list).
Relevant certifications in reliability engineering (e. g. , Certified Reliability Engineer - CRE) are a plus.
Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and statistical skills.
Proficiency in reliability engineering software tools and data analysis techniques (FMECA, RCA, RCM, reliability block diagram).
Knowledge of industry‑specific standards and regulations.
Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
Project management skills to plan and execute reliability improvement projects. Attention to detail and a proactive approach to preventing failures.
Adaptability: willingness to learn and adapt to new technologies and software updates.
Education and Experience
Bachelor's or Master's degree in engineering (mechanical, electrical, automation, industrial, or a related field).
Relevant certifications in reliability engineering (e. g. , Certified Reliability Engineer - CRE) are a plus.
Expertise in PLC and control system is a plus.
Demonstrated proficiency through 3-5 years of dedicated work in maintenance.
