Infrastructure & Service Engineer
Overview
The Infrastructure & Service Engineer has primary responsibility to deliver technology services to Elementis’ employees globally, enabling them to effectively operate on a

- day basis. This requires robust knowledge of the business’ technology stack across hardware and software, including servers, network devices, data centres, Microsoft 365 configuration and security protocols. The role also focuses on business infrastructure. The Infrastructure & Service Engineer will work closely with the Senior Infrastructure Specialist in a
- on activity, supporting, maintaining, improving, and upgrading the business infrastructure following a
- year strategic roadmap that aligns with the Elementis business.
Responsibilities
- Provide technology support services within a global team and deliver maintenance, enhancements, and upgrades to the Elementis global infrastructure in partnership with the Infrastructure Specialist and Service Delivery Specialist.
- Ensure delivery of a robust service within a global service organization mindset, able to flex and prioritize tickets globally to support
- hours issue resolution. - Resolve issues across the IT service spectrum, partnering with functions to ensure users have the technology required to function effectively.
- Share service insights with the Senior Service Specialist and Infrastructure Specialist to improve service and inform budgeting for replacing ageing equipment.
- Provide oversight of infrastructure projects to improve regional service while considering critical business deliveries during changes.
- Identify and ensure resolution of issues affecting service delivery or quality, including troubleshooting, support, maintenance, and security incidents.
- Collaborate with service providers when applicable to continuously improve service quality.
- Set up, configure and manage
- house infrastructure elements; work with the Senior Infrastructure Specialist and
- party providers on networks, servers, security infrastructure,
- user devices, upgrades, and monitoring. - Contribute to a
- year plan for infrastructure evolution to reduce operational risk and adopt newer technologies. - Increase awareness of emerging service and infrastructure technologies, assess cloud opportunities, and consider using SAAS solutions or expanding MSP partnerships.
- Evaluate infrastructure risks and mitigations; ensure recovery, backup, and disaster recovery processes and testing are in place.
- Stay current with service and infrastructure trends, maintain logs and documentation of activity, and collaborate with security on regulatory requirements and incidents.
What it takes / Position Requirements
- Education: Computer science, Information Systems or similar degree or professional qualification would be an advantage.
- Experience: 3+ years of
- on experience with infrastructure and the tools required to effectively manage it. - Languages: Verbal and written fluency in English.
- Location: Based at the Porto Hub. Occasional travel to other Elementis sites as required.
Technical Knowledge and Skills
- Hands-on knowledge of hardware and technologies including Cisco routers and switches, laptops, VMware, Meraki, Exchange Online configuration and management, Palo Alto, telephony, and network printers.
- Hands-on knowledge of Windows Server and Desktop OS, Threat
Locker, Service
Now, Azure cloud, M365 configuration, Palo Alto and Cisco.
