Investments Research Manager
Overview
Mercer is seeking a talented individual to join the Global Services Delivery team. This role is based in Lisbon and is a hybrid role requiring at least three days per week in the office. Mercer’s Investments business provides investment consulting and fiduciary management services, offering customised advice and support at every stage of the investment decision, risk management and investment monitoring process. The role will be responsible for investment strategy and research development at Delegated Solutions.
Responsibilities
- Lead quantitative and qualitative data requests from alternatives asset managers for fund due diligence with a special focus on private equity and/or private credit
- Demonstrate subject matter expertise in leading the manager research vertical
- Contribute to the investment
- making and
- selection processes - Conduct fund manager due diligence, involving a broad set of qualitative and quantitative considerations
- Maintain updated investment due diligence notes, meeting notes and recommendations in proprietary database
- Organize and ensure Mercer research template is filled in correctly and ready for distribution to Mercer’s research group
- Ensure data inserted into the Mercer research template is accurate and of high integrity
- Collaborate with local and onshore teams to produce manager research reports focused on alternative asset classes including private markets
- Maintain an efficient process for delivering manager research with focus on accuracy and timeliness
- Monitor portfolio performance and market trends
- Develop reports for internal and external client presentations and senior management
- Contribute to fund performance analysis and draft fund commentaries
Qualifications
- Degree or Master’s in Finance, Economics, Management, Mathematics, Engineering, or similar
- 8+ years of experience in global markets with exposure to alternative asset classes
- Prior experience in asset management or investment research, preferably in fund research, with strong understanding of investment strategies
- Ability to manage multiple projects, stakeholders, and deliverables simultaneously
- Proactive and
- oriented with the ability to work well as part of a team and develop positive relationships across the organization - Can work under pressure and meet deadlines, while delivering a
- quality end product - Keen attention to detail
- Working knowledge of all asset classes with a key focus on alternatives asset class
- Ability to efficiently and effectively communicate with other groups across Mercer to solve problems
- Critical thinking capabilities when encountered sticking points
- Highly proficient in Microsoft Excel and other core Microsoft Office products

- Research experience with asset management firms
- CFA/CAIA Charter holder and/or progress towards CFA and/or CAIA at advanced levels is preferred
