Responsibilities
As a Junior Marine Scientist, your responsibilities will include:
Supporting the implementation and application of numerical models (hydrodynamics, wave propagation, meteorology, watershed) and/or stochastic algorithms.
Handling and processing data from multiple sources, including
- situ observations and satellite information, using Hidromod’s software and methodologies.
Translating technical results into actionable outputs for clients.
Assisting in technical reporting, including interpretation and communication of modelling results and data insights.
Potential contribution to the development or adjustment of modelling tools and algorithms.
Qualifications
Essential: Degree in Environmental Sciences, Oceanography, Meteorology, Hydraulics, or similar.
Desirable: MSc or Ph
D in a related area.
Experience
Essential: No prior experience required.
Desirable: Previous work involving numerical models or data analysis in academic or consultancy settings.
Technical Skills
Essential:
Knowledge of numerical models and statistical methods.
Skills in data handling and programming.
Proficiency in Portuguese and English, with ability to contribute to technical reporting.
Desirable:
Experience with model calibration, validation, or forecasting.
Familiarity with data visualisation or geospatial tools (e. g. Python, R, QGIS).
Understanding of numerical methods and fluid mechanics.

Strong communication skills in both English and Portuguese.

Additional Information
Location: Primarily based in the office near Taguspark, Oeiras, with occasional remote work possible.
Contract Type: Full-time.
Compensation: Based on experience and qualifications.
