Junior Software Developer - Observability
Canonical seeks a Junior Developer with proven skills in Python and/or Go. As part of the Observability team, you will develop a
- native monitoring stack that integrates top
- source monitoring tools. The stack is designed to be resilient, scalable, and
- friendly, providing deep insights with minimal setup and smooth operations.

The monitoring stack will oversee applications across various cloud platforms like Kubernetes and Open
Stack, as well as on
- metal, virtual machines, and containers. It will monitor applications and infrastructure regardless of whether they are managed by Juju, leveraging multiple data sources, including Juju itself, to provide contextual telemetry and insights.

Location:
This role is remote, based in the EMEA and Americas regions.
Daily Responsibilities:
- Collaborate proactively with a globally distributed team.
- Write, test, and document
- quality code for new features. - Debug issues and engage with the community.
- Review code from other engineers.
- Represent Canonical at conferences and events.
- Work from home with 2 to 4 weeks of travel for events.
Candidate Requirements:
- Passion for technology and collaboration with talented teams.
- Soft skills: passionate, enterprising, thoughtful,
- motivated. - Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Computer Science, STEM, or related fields.
- Proficiency in Python, preferably with open source experience.
- Working knowledge of Go.
- Interest/experience in Ubuntu Linux, container images, Debian packaging, snaps, or distributed systems.
