Lead Python Software Engineer, Commercial Systems

Canonical is a leading provider of open‑source software and operating systems. We are looking for a Lead Python Software Engineer to join the Commercial Systems unit, working remotely in the EMEA region.

Location: Remote (EMEA).

Role Overview

In the Integrations team, you will automate Saa
S user management, onboard new data sources, and integrate internal and external data into the data mesh using open‑source ETL solutions.

Responsibilities

• Develop engineering solutions leveraging Python.
• Collaborate with colleagues on technical designs and code reviews.
• Deploy and operate services developed by the team.
• Coach, mentor, and provide career development feedback, depending on seniority.
• Advocate great engineering and organizational practices.

Qualifications

• Exceptional academic track record from high school and university.
• Undergraduate degree in a technical subject or a compelling alternative narrative.
• Proven ability to exceed expectations and achieve outstanding results.
• Experience with software development in Python.
• Professional written and spoken English with excellent presentation skills.
• Result‑oriented with a personal drive to meet commitments.
• Willingness to travel internationally twice a year for company events up to two weeks long.

Nice‑to‑have skills

• Performance engineering and security experience.
• Experience with Airbyte, Ranger, Temporal, or Trino.
