Lead Python Software Engineer, Commercial Systems

Join Canonical to lead Python development in our Commercial Systems unit. Canonical provides open‑source software and operating systems, including Ubuntu, to enterprises worldwide.

In this remote role based in the EMEA region, you will work on the Integrations team, automating Saa
S user management and onboarding new data sources into the data mesh using Python and open‑source ETL tools.

The role entails

• Develop engineering solutions leveraging Python
• Collaborate with colleagues on technical designs and code reviews
• Deploy and operate services developed by the team
• Coach, mentor and offer career development feedback (depending on seniority)
• Develop and evangelise great engineering and organisational practices

What we are looking for in you

• Exceptional academic track record from high school and university
• Undergraduate degree in a technical subject or an alternative narrative
• Track record of going above and beyond expectations to achieve outstanding results
• Experience with software development in Python
• Professional written and spoken English with excellent presentation skills
• Result‑oriented, with a personal drive to meet commitments
• Ability to travel internationally twice a year, for company events up to two weeks long

Nice‑to‑have skills

• Performance engineering and security experience
• Experience with Airbyte, Ranger, Temporal, or Trino

We base compensation on location, experience and performance. In addition to base pay, you receive a performance‑driven annual bonus or commission and a learning budget of USD 2, 000 per year.
