Job Description
Purpose
This position reports to the Rt
R Manager in Lisbon and collaborates with the Lease Accounting Team Leader in Colombia. It is responsible for lease accounting, monthly close duties, balance sheet and P&L analysis, account reconciliations, audit support, and other projects as assigned.
Responsibilities
- Classify facilities and equipment leases (capital vs. operating).
- Determine lease terms under ASC 842 and Brinks lease accounting policy.
- Analyze and reconcile
- related balance sheet accounts. - Coordinate with countries to obtain new agreements, modifications, terminations, or
- assessment events for accounting. - Review contracts and agreements to gather inputs for lease accounting in the lease tool.
- Implement procedures and internal controls to record lease acquisitions, changes, and dispositions accurately.
- Analyze General Ledger accounts, reports, and financial statements; assist in
- end closing. - Communicate effectively with internal stakeholders and auditors regarding lease matters.
- Support internal and external audits, including
- testing of lease transactions. - Coordinate with offshore Shared Services for accounting, reporting, and closing activities.
- Assist with special projects as needed.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting.
- 2-3 years of accounting experience.
- Experience with SOX controls testing and compliance.
- Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
- Experience with ERP systems like People
Soft and Oracle. - Strong verbal and written communication skills.
