We are looking to recruit
- time Lecturers in Psychology to teach
- year students enrolled in the BSc Psychology programme, in one or two of the following courses:
- Research Skills 1: Qualitative Skills
- Biological Psychology
- Research Design and Statistics 1B
As part of the development of a new degree programme, we are also looking for someone to design and deliver the following course:
- How we think and learn - The Brain, Decisions, and Bias
- Course summary - Do you think your memory is reliable and your decisions rational? Think again. In this module, you will explore the different types of memory, uncover their limited reliability, and examine
- world implications of these limitations. You will also discover the different forms of reasoning, and investigate how emotions, heuristics, and cognitive and implicit biases can influence or distort our evaluations and judgments. We will investigate the different ways we make good and bad decisions as well as the best strategies to solve problems. Discover how you are not always the rational agent you believe you are, and apply this knowledge and theories to improve your learning and
- making abilities and to foster your critical thinking skills and approach challenges with greater insight.
Each course is
- long and consists of 11 seminar sessions (lasting 120 minutes each), taught over one term only, between early October 2025 and February 2026 (Biological Psychology; Research Design and Statistics 1B) and between April 2026 and July 2026 (Developmental Psychology; Research Skills 1: Qualitative Skills).
You will be responsible for
- Delivering the existing syllabus for the course(s), designed by King’s College London, and adapting and enriching the content to fit the ‘active learning’ pedagogy promoted by Forward College.
- Designing and implementing the flipped classroom sessions throughout the academic year for a small group of X students.
- Designing tests and formative assessments that will support students in achieving learning outcomes throughout the academic year.
- Organising and providing
-
- one tutoring sessions to students (20 mins per student), on a minimum of two occasions for each course.
The appointment is for a
- term contract to teach one or two of the courses mentioned above. While final teaching needs will depend on the outcome of ongoing recruitment, it is certain that at least two of these modules will need to be covered.
Additional teaching will be available in subsequent academic years to provide for growing student numbers.
Your Profile
You should have a passion for teaching and engaging students, be curious about new ways of teaching, have demonstrable excellent interpersonal skills, and have the ability to interact well with staff and contribute to the College’s activities.
You will also have:
- A Ph
D in Psychology from a
- tier University - A passion for teaching, pedagogical innovation, and fostering a positive and engaging learning environment for students
- An excellent level of English
