Overview
Forward COLLEGE is a
- European Higher Education Institution (Lisbon, Paris, Berlin) that promotes a relational pedagogy (100% small group teaching and 1:1 tutoring). All teaching takes place in small classes (average 15 students) and uses a flipped classroom approach. We teach Bachelor’s degrees in partnership with the University of London (LSE and King’s College) and also offer our own programmes.
We are looking to recruit
- time Lecturers in Politics and IR to teach
- year students enrolled in the BSc Politics and IR programme, in the following courses: Introduction to International Development | DV1171; International Relations: Theories, Concepts and Debates | IR1198; Fundamentals and Perspectives of International Relations (PLIR112). Teaching materials and examinations are provided by LSE; courses run for the full academic year with multiple groups of students as specified below.
Location: Forward College Campus in Chiado (Lisbon). Compensation ranges per course and term as follows: €6, 000-€7, 000 for
- long or
- long courses; overall compensation varies by course structure and number of groups. Start: November 2025 to end of April 2026. Applicants must have valid authorization to work in Lisbon or the EU at the time of application. Due to administrative constraints, we are unable to sponsor visa or work permit applications for this role.

Responsibilities
- Deliver the existing syllabus for the course(s) designed by the LSE and adapt/enrich content to fit Forward College’s active learning pedagogy.
- Design and implement flipped classroom sessions for groups of approximately 15 students.
- Design tests and formative assessments that support students in achieving learning outcomes throughout the academic year.
- Organise and provide

- one tutoring sessions to students (20 minutes per student), with a minimum of two occasions for each
- long course and four occasions for each
- long course. - Deliver 1:1 tutoring and support beyond classroom sessions as required.
- Work on a
- term contract / recibo verde to teach one or, ideally, two of the courses mentioned above. - Participate in additional teaching in subsequent years to accommodate growing student numbers.
Qualifications
- Ph
D in a relevant area. - Demonstrated ability to teach the listed courses.
- Passion for teaching and ability to engage students.
- Excellent English proficiency.
