Lecturer(s) in Politics and IR (part-time) – Lisbon

Teaching load: 2h per week seminar across 25 teaching weeks + c. 15 hours of 1:1 tutoring over the year per course and group

When: from November 2025 to the end of April 2026

Compensation: €6, 000-€7, 000 per annual course and group (€3, 000-€3, 500 per term long course) depending on experience

About the job

We are looking to recruit
- time Lecturers in Politics and IR to teach
- year students enrolled in the BSc Politics and IR programme, in the following courses:

The teaching material and examination by the LSE;
- long course (22 weeks); 1 group of approximately 15 students. Compensation: €6, 000-7, 000.

International Relations: Theories, Concepts and Debates | IR1198 ( https://www.lse. ac. uk/study-at-lse/uolip/Assets/documents/IR1198-International-relations-theories-concepts-and-debates. pdf) teaching material and examination by the LSE;
- long course (22 weeks); 3 groups of students (approximately 45 students in total), Compensation: €18, 000-21, 000

Fundamentals and Perspectives of International Relations (PLIR112) Forward College Open Bachelor, syllabus ready,
- long course, 11 weeks starting in January 2026; 2 groups of students (approximately 30 students in total). Compensation: €6, 000-7, 000

Each seminar session lasts 120 minutes. You will be responsible for

• Delivering the existing syllabus for the course(s), designed by the LSE, and adapting and enriching the content to fit the ‘ active learning’ pedagogy ( https://forward-college. eu/learning-forward/) followed by Forward College.
• Designing and implementing the flipped classroom sessions throughout the academic year for groups of approximately 15 students.
• Designing tests and formative assessments that will support students in achieving learning outcomes throughout the academic year.
• Organising and providing
  -
  - one tutoring sessions to students (20 mins per student), on a minimum of two occasions for each
  - long course and four occasions for each
  - long course.

Each appointment is for a
- term contract / recibo verde to teach one or, ideally, two of the courses mentioned above. Additional teaching will be available in subsequent academic years to provide for growing student numbers.

Requirements

• Ph
  D in a relevant area
• Demonstrated ability to teach such courses
• Passion for teaching, ability to engage students.
