Job Purpose
UNICEF Portugal is looking for a strategic,
- driven professional to lead and grow our
Legacy Giving and High Value Donor
programs. This role is pivotal in securing
- term, sustainable funding by cultivating meaningful relationships with supporters who wish to leave a lasting impact on children's lives.
You will develop and implement innovative strategies to engage legacy prospects and
- level donors, steward relationships, and ensure UNICEF Portugal remains a trusted and inspiring choice for philanthropic giving. You will work
- functionally with internal teams, and external partners and represent Portugal within UNICEF's global legacy community.
Key Responsibilities
- Strategy & Planning (in collaboration with Marketing team)
- Co-design and implement a tiered legacy marketing strategy, segmenting audiences and tailoring messaging across channels (direct mail, digital, telemarketing, press, etc. ).
- Develop and execute
- channel campaigns to promote legacy giving and engage high value donors, targeting both warm and cold audiences. - Co-create a compelling legacy proposition based on donor insights, market research, and emotional storytelling.
- Donor Engagement & Stewardship
- Collaborate with the Donor Success Team to build a stewardship journey for legacy pledgers and
- value donors, including personalized communications and recognition. - Establish and manage a Legacy Community to honor and engage legacy supporters through exclusive events and updates.
- Ensure legacy asks are embedded across all supporter journeys and touchpoints.
Operational Excellence
- Liaise with external suppliers (copywriters, designers, printers, legal advisors) to deliver
- quality campaigns and materials. - Oversee the legacy fundraising budget, ensuring
- efficiency and strategic investment. - Monitor performance against KPIs and benchmarks, providing regular reports and forecasts to leadership.
Data & Compliance
- Work with the IT/Data Team to ensure CRM records are accurate and up to date, reflecting donor preferences, relationships, and gift activity.
- Ensure legacy gifts are processed in compliance with Portuguese legal frameworks and UNICEF's global standards.
- Develop reporting tools and dashboards to inform
- making and improve targeting.
Collaboration & Representation
Liaise with UNICEF HQ to develop investment proposals and report on program performance.
Represent UNICEF Portugal in the global legacy community and at donor cultivation events.
Contribute to the Annual Plan and participate in strategic planning and evaluation activities.
Qualifications and Competencies of a Successful Candidate
WHO YOU ARE
- You are

YOUR SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
- Degree in Marketing, Communications, Management, or related field (preferred).
- 5+ years of experience in fundraising, marketing, commercial or communications roles.
- Proven experience in legacy fundraising,
- level supporter engagement, or relationship marketing. - Digital channels and integrated campaign management is a plus.
- Superior verbal and written communication skills, including storytelling and presentation.
- Strategic thinker with strong planning, analytical, and organizational skills.
- Data-driven mindset with experience using CRM systems and donor analytics.
- Empathetic and
- oriented, with a deep understanding of donor motivations. - Resilient, proactive, and able to lead projects independently in a
- paced environment. - Collaborative team player with the ability to influence and inspire across teams.
- Native proficiency in Portuguese and full professional proficiency in English is essential.
