Side (formerly PTW) is a global video game development and services provider, offering technical and creative solutions to many of the largest developers and studios around the world. Founded in 2009 and with 20 studios in 14 countries, Side delivers services including game development, art production, audio production, quality assurance, localization, localization QA, player support, community management, and datasets.

As Localization QA Game Tester, you will work within our Localization Quality Assurance team and be the first to see the localized game in its entirety – translated text, images, and the rest of the user interface. You’ll ensure the game is free of grammatical errors and cultural inconsistencies, and accurately localized into the target language.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with a global project team.
• Identify and correct spelling, grammar, punctuation, and other language errors.
• Ensure adherence to console manufacturer guidelines.
• Log details of errors and issues, providing improvement suggestions.
• Ensure accurate translation within context and maintain consistency in terminology and imagery.
• Identify missing or incorrect content and ensure proper display/format of dates, calendars, and characters.
• Write reports on errors and bugs found and perform ad hoc translation.
• Oversee the quality of your work, collaborate with the team, and contribute to the overall success of projects.

Our Localization QA team conducts language checks on upcoming games across platforms including PC, Xbox Series X/S, PS5, Nintendo Switch, Play
Station VR2, and various mobile and tablet devices. You will be working on top gaming titles for some of the world’s leading publishers.

Requirements

• No experience required. Just fluency in German and conversational in English.
• Strong cultural understanding of the language you are applying for.
• Computer literacy – particularly with Excel.
• Robust Internet research skills.
• Excellent attention to detail.
• Previous experience with using different software, applications, and websites.
• Ability to communicate clearly and concisely and collaborate within project teams.
• Candidate must be located within Europe.

• Fully remote within Europe. If you’re based in Braga, Portugal, even better.
• Possibility of transitioning to a
  - time role, or remain a freelancer if preferred.
