Mainframe Operator

Emagine is currently seeking a Mainframe Operator to join a
- term assignment with one of our international clients. This is a strategic opportunity to contribute to the reliability, performance, and cost optimization of our client's core systems, supporting a critical environment hosted on an outsourced IBM mainframe and developed in a mixture of Cobol, PL/I, SAS, DB2, Java, and Python.

The selected professionals will be part of a dedicated team responsible for 24/7 mainframe operations, ensuring smooth execution, stability, and high performance across essential applications. The role requires a strong technical mindset,
- oriented attitude, and the ability to collaborate effectively with Danish colleagues in an international setting.

Your main responsibilities:

• Operate and monitor IBM mainframe systems to ensure stability, availability, and optimal performance.
• Support applications developed in Cobol, PL/I, SAS, DB2, and other technologies such as Java and Python.
• Identify, analyze, and resolve performance or capacity issues in collaboration with our client's internal teams.
• Follow operational processes and standards to maintain high service quality and compliance with SLAs.
• Collaborate closely with the department manager and colleagues in Denmark, contributing to effective communication and issue resolution.
• Participate in capacity management and performance optimization activities using tools such as SMT Data’s ITBITM for Z.
• Support 24/7 operations across three shifts, ensuring business continuity and incident response.
• Document incidents, changes, and operational procedures with precision and attention to detail.
• Contribute to the continuous improvement of operational workflows and team efficiency.

You bring:

• Solid experience working with IBM mainframe systems.
• Hands-on knowledge of Cobol, PL/I, SAS, and DB2 (knowledge of Java and Python is a strong advantage).
• Experience with performance monitoring, capacity management, and incident handling in mainframe environments.
• Service-minded approach, flexibility, and ability to work under pressure.
• Willingness to work mainly on-site and collaborate closely with colleagues from Denmark.
• Availability to travel occasionally to Denmark for workshops or team coordination.
• Readiness to work outside normal hours as part of a 24/7 operational setup (three-shift rotation).
• Strong communication skills and a
  - oriented mindset.
• Fluent English (knowledge of Danish is an advantage).
