The Role
We are looking for a Marine Engineer or Mechanical Engineer with experience in electrical systems, vessel equipment, piping systems and/or automation to join our Machinery team.
Experience in ships, ship design, or machine room configuration is a plus - but not a requirement. We will support you in gaining the necessary
- specific knowledge if needed.
This is a
- time,
- office position in Lisbon, with the possibility of working from home on occasion. The rle includes occasional travel to our offices in Denmak and to clients or shipyards worldwide.

Key responsibilities
- As part of the Machinery Department, your responsibilities may include:
- Piping System Design, HVAC, and Technical Arrangements:
- Development of PID’s for piping and duct systems, including heating, cooling, and fluid transport systems.
- Definition of temperature, pressure, and material needs, and pipe sizing based on flow and pressure drop calculations.
- Creating 2D arrangements and 3D routing within space constraints.
- Material selection appropriate to fluid type and operating conditions.
- Supporting and anchoring for load and thermal expansion.
- Leasing with system suppliers.
- Ensuring all designs comply with regulatory requirements.
Ship Design and Propulsion System Design
- Defining propulsion system arrangements in close cooperation with clients.
- Evaluating performance metrics, selecting engines or power sources, and designing auxiliary systems.
- Developing vessel energy balances including power, heat transfer, and heat recovery systems.
Electrical and Automation System Design
- Designing shipboard electrical and control systems for safe and efficient operations.
- Developing electrical load balances and layouts for switchboards, transformers, breakers, and busbars.
- Specifying systems for lighting, emergency power, HVAC, and navigation lights.
- Designing protection systems for electrical faults.
- Specifying automation controls for propulsion, ballast, engine room, and cargo operations.
- Defining user interface requirements (HMIs) for bridge and control room operations.
Qualifications
- A relevant engineering degree (Bachelor’s or Master’s) or equivalent qualifications
- Theoretical and practical knowledge of electrical and automation systems (expert-level not required)
- Proficiency in English, both written and spoken
- Familiarity with design tools such as Auto
CAD, Rhino, or other CAD software (experience with all not required) - Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365
