Position Overview
The Material Master Data Specialist will report to the Material Master Data Team Leader and work closely with the Regional/Global community and Process Owners to ensure that material master data is complete and accurate. Responsibilities include improving and setting standards for data quality, creating and cleansing the master data sets, processing the creation and amendments to master data, monitoring data to ensure it meets those standards, working with business users to correct data errors, and identifying continuous improvement initiatives to maintain data quality.
Key Responsibilities
- Process requests for creation, change, blocking/unblocking, extending and flagging material master data for deletion within quality targets and SLAs set.
- Understand the structure of key data items, relationships between them and use in internal reporting.
- Assist in the creation and maintenance of Work Instructions, Standard Operating Procedures, Policies and training material for Master Data Management.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives to improve existing processes towards a lean and efficient process flow.
- Assist in the creation and embedding of Data Governance within Conva
Tec, including creation and maintenance of Data Owners, Data Stewards, Data Dictionaries, Data Quality Rules, etc. - Assist in the implementation of tools and processes to create and maintain master data.
- Become a subject matter expert and “go to” person for material master data who will work with the business users to train and assist them with master data management.
- Assist in the creation of business rules to monitor the quality of the master database.
- Create dashboards to report master data quality on an ongoing and project basis.
- Create and own a data cleansing process.
- Work with the business to correct data errors found in the master data on an ongoing basis.
- Drive continuous improvement programmes to further enhance data quality by analysing data within the database, observing and monitoring processes and working with the business to identify improvements. Create projects where needed and work with relevant stakeholders to deliver the improvements.
- Work with other projects to expand the use of master data within the business, for example to CRM, sales and marketing.
- Work with the business to perform data cleanse activity to establish and maintain the master data sets.
Key Requirements
- Previous material master data management experience in SAP.
- Excellent Microsoft Office suite skills (Excel – good to an advanced level).
- Good data manipulation skills (for ex. in Business Intelligence or equivalent).
- Data Profiling and Data Quality monitoring tool e. g. Infosphere preferred.
- Passionate about data and data quality.
- Able to understand and investigate topics related to multiple business areas.
- Analytically minded and a methodical problem solver.
- Good interpersonal skills with excellent customer service and a “can do” attitude.
- Process oriented.
- Able to efficiently prioritise work and timely inform stakeholders on the progress.
- Experience working with multiple countries/geographies.
- Experience of Working within a GBS environment preferred.
Qualifications/Education
- Degree.
Travel Requirements
Position may involve minimal international travel up to 25% of the time, most trips will include overnight travel.
Languages
- English - mandatory.
- Portuguese and/or any additional language is a plus.
Working Conditions
Hybrid working – 1 day per week in the office driven by business requirements as Convatec has a flexible approach to office working. Applicable local workplace laws and statutes should be included in the description of working conditions.

Due to Year End Costing activities, limited time off in December is available.
