Mechanical Engineer
Department: Technology & Innovation
Location: Viana do Castelo, Portugal (min. 3 days/week onsite)
Contract: Permanent, 40 hours/week, 22 vacation days/year
Role Overview
The Mechanical Engineer is responsible for designing, analyzing, and optimizing mechanical systems and components within the platform. This includes developing CAD models, conducting structural and thermal analyses, and supporting the fabrication and installation of components. The role involves close collaboration with
- functional teams, troubleshooting technical issues, and ensuring compliance with industry standards and project requirements.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering
- 5+ years of experience in mechanical design or analysis, preferably in offshore wind or marine environments
- Familiarity with fabrication and construction yards is a plus
Technical Skills
- Proficient in CAD tools (Solid
Works, Auto
CAD), MS Office, Python, and MATLAB - Strong understanding of mechanical design principles, stress/fatigue analysis, and GD&T
- Knowledge of industry codes and standards (especially in floating offshore wind or similar sectors)
- Familiarity with advanced materials and manufacturing processes
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings and specifications
Soft Skills
- Multidisciplinary approach with
- functional understanding (e. g. , materials, CAD modeling) - Strong communication, documentation, and interpersonal skills
- Collaborative team player with a proactive and innovative mindset
- Fluent in English; Portuguese is a plus
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and refine CAD models and perform design calculations
- Conduct structural and fatigue analysis of mechanical components
- Evaluate and select materials based on mechanical performance and environmental suitability
- Support manufacturing and supply chain teams during fabrication and assembly
- Review engineering deliverables and provide feedback in line with project timelines
- Perform system performance evaluations using testing, simulation, and data analysis
- Stay up to date with industry standards, regulations, and certification requirements
- Guide technical and project teams with sound engineering input
- Prepare and manage documentation for certifications and regulatory submissions
- Ensure compliance with internal safety and quality processes
