Job Description Summary
The Mechanical Reliability Engineer will act as an expert on mechanical reliability components.
Your scope involves assess and promote continuous improvements in the reliability of mechanical components within wind turbines to minimize downtime, enhance performance, and optimize maintenance strategies. You will be part of the Mechanical Engineers team responsible for the risk management and resolution of complex technical problems. You will be working closely with the wider Asset Maintenance Department and Asset Management team, to provide expert support on the reliability of Wind Power Plant assets.
Job Description
- Mechanical systems reliability Engineering support
- Assess the condition of mechanical systems, providing expert guidance to internal and external clients concerning these components.
- Oversee drive train components within partial scope maintenance contracts and define necessary actions to return or maintain assets in service. Additionally, support is offered to the business during

- contract inspections, involving classifying defects and providing a
- informed view of potential failure timelines. - Ongoing reactive support is also provided to Asset Management and Asset Maintenance as required.
- Working directly with Predictive Maintenance team to ensure that all CMS alerts are appropriately investigated and escalated with the aim of ensuring no unscheduled major component failures occur.
- Root cause and failure mode analysis, reliability and risk assessments
- Promote the process of root cause and failure mode analysis to implement corrective action. Fleetwide condition (at component level) and reliability assessment implementing new strategies to increase reliability and reduce the risk of component failure.
- Creation and implementation of ECR´s, Engineering Best Practice, Processes and Tools.
- Contribute to technical due diligence processes, assessing upgrades and solutions for serial defects, and creating necessary ECRs.
- Participate in the development and implementation of Best Practices, processes, and tools to efficiently assess the mechanical systems condition, optimise maintenance strategies and enhance overall operational reliability.
- Supply and Refurbishment of Drive Train Major Components
- Participate in development and implementation of spare parts stock strategies based on windfarm condition and risk assessment. Collaborating with Spares Management and Maintenance team to implement repair policies and framework contracts with refurbishment companies. Support the Mechanical Reliability team in the development of new overhaul routes for major components.
- Budget Management
- Participate in the budget management for the department's activities and ensure
- effective maintenance strategies while meeting reliability goals.

- Expert knowledge on condition monitoring for rotating equipment, including vibration and lubrication analysis;
- Any desmonstrable experience of working in Wind Power and the associated mechanical subsystems;
- Any knowledge of wind turbine drive trains including the design, manufacture and operational failure modes.
- Root Cause Analysis methodologies;
- Strong project management skills;
- Contract structures, and negotiation;
- Language skills (English) - Desirable (French, Spanish, Portuguese)
- Years of experience in the wind energy industry, with a focus on the maintenance of mechanical systems within wind turbines.
- Multi-project and stakeholder management;
- Experience with safety aspects across the business; Definition and implementation of complex maintenance projects and policies, and proven abilities to discuss with OEM/ISPs on implementing such;
- MS Office, Smartsheet, MS Project, Auto
CAD, Python, IBM - Maximo, SQL Tools, Vibration analysis software
- Occasional travel required
