Network Security Consultant – Firewall Specialist
Accenture is seeking a skilled and passionate mid‑to‑senior Firewall Security Consultant to join our team in Porto. This role focuses on hands‑on firewall rule analysis, implementation, and maintenance using Checkpoint and Palo Alto technologies. You will play a key role in securing network infrastructure, supporting firewall operations, and contributing to the continuous improvement of our security posture.
Job Summary
The ideal candidate will have several years of real‑world experience in firewall operations and be comfortable working in a fast‑paced, multi‑vendor environment. You will participate in security initiatives across Infrastructure and Network Security, championing a security‑first culture and protecting client platforms and data.
Responsibilities
- Analyze, optimize, and implement firewall rules using Checkpoint Smart
Console and Palo Alto Panorama - Perform daily firewall operations including rule base management, policy deployment, and troubleshooting
- Conduct regular firewall policy reviews and audits using Algo
Sec, Tufin or equivalent tools - Manage firewall upgrades, patches, and high‑availability configurations
- Collaborate on infrastructure and network security projects across EMEA
- Support integration of security tools in hybrid and multi‑cloud environments
- Document technical configurations, procedures, and incident reports
- Work with clients and Accenture teams in a multi‑disciplined structure, implementing cloud‑native and third‑party security solutions across major cloud providers
- Provide daily project support, including understanding challenges, defining requirements, and performing hands‑on technology configuration
Qualifications
- Minimum of 5 years of hands‑on experience with Check Point and Palo Alto Firewalls
- Strong experience in firewall rule base analysis, policy optimization, and incident investigation
- Proficiency in TCP/IP, routing, switching and Layer 3‑7 protocols, including DNS and DHCP
- Advanced knowledge of IPsec, SSL, VPN, RAS, and SASE frameworks
- Experience with F5 Load Balancers (LTM, ASM, i
Rules) including installation, configuration, and upgrades - Familiarity with centralized firewall management tools such as Algo
Sec or Tufin - Knowledge of Zero Trust Architectures, SASE framework, or cloud‑native security networks
- Experience in full lifecycle of network deployment and management, from implementation to maintenance and architecture review
- Experience with network monitoring, logging, and security event management
- Hands‑on experience in automating network configurations using Python or similar tools
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex firewall‑related incidents
- Strong teamwork, collaboration, and communication skills in professional environments
- Fluent in English, both technical and business settings
Preferred Qualifications
- Microsoft Azure networking experience
- Certifications: PCNSA, PCNSE, CCSA, CCSE, F5‑CA, F5‑CTS / F5‑CSE, Azure Network Engineer Associate, Azure Security Engineer Associate, CCNA, CCNP, SSCP, CCSP, Cybersecurity Masters
