Visma Tech Portugal is looking for a senior Node developer to build and scale agentic AI‑powered accounting solutions.

Responsibilities

• Architect and implement robust, scalable backend services and APIs for complex accounting processes.
• Build infrastructure that connects agentic AI capabilities with financial data and business logic.
• Own end‑to‑end technical implementation: database design, API architecture, security and performance.
• Design and execute testing strategies and optimize system performance.

Requirements

• 7+ years of backend development experience.
• Proficiency in Node. js and Type
  Script with clean, maintainable production code.
• Extensive experience with Postgre
  SQL (schema design, query optimization, data modeling).
• Design and implement secure, well‑documented RESTful APIs.
• Solid understanding of backend security best practices and data protection principles.
• Experience with automated testing frameworks (Jest preferred).
• Knowledge of agentic AI concepts – Model Context Protocol, tool calling, autonomous agents, evaluations.
• Familiarity with AI patterns – RAG, prompt engineering, LLM integration in production.
• Experience with microservices architecture and event‑driven systems.
• Performance tuning and optimization for backend systems.

Additional Expectations

• Design and develop the agentic platform and new features.
• Experiment and co‑develop ideas with design and product teams.
• Develop and maintain core backend services and APIs using Node. js and Type
  Script.
• Design and optimize Postgre
  SQL schemas for financial data storage and retrieval.
• Implement business logic for accounting features and financial calculations.
• Build data processing pipelines with validation, transformation, and AI enrichment.
• Integrate with AI services and external APIs (banking, payment systems, Norwegian government APIs).
• Ensure application security, data privacy, and regulatory compliance.
• Optimize performance for efficient database queries and computational tasks.
• Collaborate on architectural decisions regarding data flow and system design.
• Possess a legal right to work in Portugal (work permit or authorization).

Technologies

• AI: LLMs, MCP, custom agentic workflows.
• Testing: Jest or similar tools.
• Infrastructure: GCP.

Bonus Skills

• Experience in fintech or compliance‑heavy domains.
• Understanding of accounting principles or financial systems.
• Familiarity with Norwegian APIs (Tripletex, Brønnøysund registers, Altinn, banking).
• Experience with message queues or event‑driven architectures.
• Experience in fast‑paced startup environments.
• Open source contributions or technical blogging.
