Operational Buyer

Purpose and Objective of the Role: The Operational Buyer is responsible for procuring and purchasing
- production materials and services to ensure that the company has the necessary resources to maintain smooth operations. The main task is to ensure the best possible conditions in terms of quality, price, and delivery time for
- production materials and services, while considering the needs of internal departments and company policies. The Operational Buyer works closely with the respective Strategic Commodity Manager to support them in all operational activities. Additionally, they coordinate with the Strategic Commodity Manager regarding the supplier portfolio and jointly manage it.
This position is based in Porto, Portugal, and requires fluency in both German and English.
Tasks and Responsibilities:
- Identify and select suitable suppliers for
- production materials and services in consultation with the Strategic Commodity Manager. - Negotiate prices for
- production materials to achieve optimal conditions. - Responsible for order processing, monitoring deliveries, and ensuring timely delivery to internal customers.
- Manage and maintain supplier relationships, including resolving supplier issues and escalating quality or delivery problems for
- production materials and services. - Collaborate with internal departments such as purchasing, warehouse, finance, and other internal teams to ensure smooth order processing.
- Clarify unclear goods receipts for
- production materials. - Handle returns to suppliers in case of incorrect orders by the operational purchasing team or internal customers.
- Monitor compliance with company policies and procedures in the procurement process.
- Assist in identifying cost optimization opportunities and efficiency/process improvements in the procurement area.
Qualifications and Requirements:
- Completed commercial education or a comparable qualification.
- Experience in procurement, preferably in the procurement of
- production materials or indirect services. - Knowledge of contract management is advantageous.
- Negotiation skills and ability to build and maintain good relationships with suppliers.
- Strong analytical skills and ability to identify market trends and procurement opportunities.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Good communication skills and ability to effectively interact with internal and external stakeholders.
- Proficiency in purchasing and ERP systems as well as MS Office applications.
- Proficiency in German and English.
