Duties and responsibilities
1. Design and conduct experiments to investigate pancreatic cancer biology, including tumor heterogeneity, tumor invasion and metastasis, tumor microenvironment, metabolism, and drug resistance mechanisms;
2. Develop and optimize in vitro and in vivo models of pancreatic cancer, including
- derived organoids;
3. Utilize laser capture microdissection (LMD) and multiplex imaging system to study tumor classification, heterogeneity, and their interaction with surrounding tumor microenvironment (TME);
4. Analyze and interpret complex experimental data using advanced statistical and bioinformatic tools;
5. Present research findings at team meetings, conferences, and scientific symposia;
6. Prepare manuscripts for publication in
- reviewed journals;
7. Collaborate with other researchers and clinicians within the Botton-Champalimaud Pancreatic Cancer Centre and external partners;
8. Mentor and supervise junior researchers and graduate students;
9. Contribute to grant writing and funding applications;
10. Participate in translational research initiatives to bridge laboratory findings with clinical applications;
11. Engage in knowledge exchange and public outreach activities to promote pancreatic cancer awareness and research;
12. Prepare Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for laboratory techniques and experimental protocols;
13. Contribute to the development and maintenance of quality management systems within the research facility.

1. Ph. D. in Cancer Biology, Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, or a related field;
2. Strong background in cancer research, preferably with experience in pancreatic cancer, pancreatic neuroendocrine cancer, RNA and immune biology and metabolism;
3. Expertise in molecular biology techniques, cell culture, and animal models;
4. Expertise in advanced imaging techniques (e. g. , multiplex immunofluorescence, spatial profiling and analysis);
5. Excellent written and verbal communication skills;
6. Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively in a multidisciplinary environment;
7. Track record of scientific publications in
- reviewed journals;
8. Good level of English.
Preferred skills
1. Experience with tissue processing and sectioning;
2. Familiarity with
- generation sequencing and
- omics data analysis;
3. Experinece in metabolic data analysis;
4. Experience in data analysis, cell annotation software;
5. Knowledge of drug discovery and development processes;
6. Experience with grant writing and securing research funding.
