Scientific Area:Basic Sciences and Enabling Technologies

Work Objectives:The mail goal of the present project will be the deposition of vertically aligned carbon nanotubes (VACNTs), with nanostructured patterns, on diamond films grown on microelectronic devices (chiplets).
Place of work:The work will be developed at the premises of Instituto de Telecomunicações at University of Aveiro, under the supervision of Dr. Joana Catarina Martins Mendes.
Duration:12 months, with the possibility of renewal. This type of scholarship has a maximum duration of 3 years. Start date: January 2026 or soon thereafter.
Required Documents:Motivation letter explaining the interest in the position, Detailed Curriculum Vitae with transcripts and, degree certificate.
After the notification of the results, candidates have 10 working days if they wish to contest the decision.

Post-Doctoral Research Grants, known as BIPD, are intended for the pursuit of R&D activities by individuals holding a doctoral degree.
BIPD grants may only be awarded if the following conditions are cumulatively met:
- The doctoral degree was obtained within the three years prior to the date of submission of the grant application;
- The
- doctoral research is carried out at a host institution different from the one where the research work leading to the doctoral degree was conducted. 
The candidate must hold a Ph
D in Materials Science and Engineering or related fields. Preferred factors:
- Experience in the synthesis of metallic thin films using the PVD technique.
 - Experience in the growth of aligned carbon nanotubes (CNTs) using Thermal Chemical Vapor Deposition (TCVD).
 - Experience in the fabrication of aligned CNT nanostructures.
 - Strong autonomy in the use of laboratory equipment for CNT characterization.
 - Good communication skills and ability to disseminate scientific work in English.
 
Additional Information
Monthly salary:1, 851. 00€ according to the table of grant amounts awarded directly by FCT for positions held in Portugal ( www.fct. pt/apoios/bolsas/valores ). The payment will be made by bank transfer.

Selection criteria:
C1 (15%) – Evaluation of the academic background / Curriculum Vitae
C2 (55%) – Adequacy of the candidate’s profile to the project, based on the work plan and the Admission Requirements
C3 (30%) – Interview
Each criterion, as well as the final classification, will be graded on a scale from 0 to 20. Candidates will be ranked according to the formula F = C1 × 15% + C2 × 55% + C3 × 30%. In the event of a tie, candidates will be ranked based on C1, followed by C2. A maximum of three candidates will be selected for the interview. The Jury reserves the right not to select any candidate if it considers that none meet the minimum requirements for the position.
