About the role
You will join MPG Portugal (Freight Forwarding team) in Leça da Palmeira (Porto) or Lisbon, reporting to the Networking Team Leader and collaborating closely with the sales team. The role supports the Pricing & Procurement functions in a challenging,
- driven environment, with constant interaction with operations, sales and overseas agents. We expect autonomy, initiative, and a strong sense of responsibility.
The main purpose of this role is to secure competitive pricing, manage supplier relationships, and support the quotation process, helping to maximize profitability and ensure a smooth operation flow.
Key responsibilities
Evaluate, negotiate and maintain supplier rates and conditions
Prepare and issue competitive quotations to internal and external customers
Support the sales team with pricing strategies and margin analysis
Maintain and update tariffs in line with market developments
Collaborate with overseas agents to align procurement strategies and identify new partners
Monitor freight procurement market trends to identify
- saving opportunities
Participate in client and supplier meetings when required
Support the implementation of best practices for pricing and procurement
Work with the sales and operations team to solve service issues linked to pricing or supplier conditions
Profile
Professional experience in freight forwarding, shipping or related logistics sectors
Solid understanding of pricing and procurement in a freight forwarding environment
Excellent negotiation and communication skills
Analytical thinking and attention to detail
Proficiency in MS Office, especially Excel
Ability to work independently and manage time efficiently
Team player with a proactive attitude
Fluency in Portuguese and good command of English
