The Team

Frontend Line (FL) operates the world's largest web server, processing over 120 million HTTP requests per second. As part of the Platform team, Senior Engineers and Architects build and maintain a
- performance web proxy platform with strong developer ergonomics for 20+ teams. The entire codebase is in Rust.

The Role

Senior Engineer/Architect on the Platform team, responsible for building the next generation of Cloudflare's core web server. Coordinate efforts across multiple teams to design, build, and deploy features that enhance availability, safety, and reliability of the edge network. Focus on a
- performance platform with operational excellence, including defining Service Level Objectives (SLOs), monitoring metrics, and managing error rates.

You will be instrumental in building a platform that empowers teams across the company and influences how millions experience the Internet.

What You'll Bring

• Deep expertise in Rust with a track record of building
  - grade applications.
• Strong computer science foundation (algorithms, data structures, concurrency).
• Experience with performance engineering and optimizing
  - throughput,
  - latency systems.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills to drive consensus across engineering teams.
• A passion for continuous improvement in both operations and product development.

Bonus Points

• Understanding of web protocols and web servers.
• Experience with distributed systems architecture.
• Knowledge of web security issues and industry standards.
• Familiarity with Prometheus for monitoring and alerting.
