The Opportunity

We’re looking for supermodular. ai’s first design hire. This is a rare opportunity to shape the entire design function from day one, impact how the company thinks and operates, and design entirely new paradigms for how humans work and interact with AI.

- end products and systems, not just screens. Our products are complex enterprise solutions used by engineers, system architects, PMs, UX designers, and applied in the real world in areas ranging from
- only solutions to factories, cars, and more.

As you’ll be building a new category of product design, there’s no playbook: you’ll look around to see what’s working, help invent the design patterns specific to supermodular. ai, and drive this together with the team.

What You’ll Do:

• Immerse yourself in user understanding: joining conversations, conducting lean usability tests, and grounding your decisions in qualitative and quantitative insights.
• Drive the full spectrum of design: from shaping problem spaces and mapping user flows to delivering polished,
  - quality interfaces. You define our design system and standards to ensure cohesion and clarity across our product portfolio.
• Collaborate deeply with engineering to ship regularly and work in fast loops from prototype to production (think hours, not days).
• Push the boundaries and explore novel interfaces that don’t yet exist to make sure humans and AI work smoothly together.
• Shape the design organization itself: from hiring future designers to selecting the tools, workflows, and setting the bar and values as we scale.

What We’re Looking For:

• You have strong
  - level design experience, ideally in
  - moving environments and technical domains (B2B Saa
  S, internal tools,
  - paced startups).
• You have founder energy. Maybe you’ve been one or have serious side projects. You thrive with autonomy and default to action in high ambiguity settings.
• You communicate clearly, ask excellent questions, and balance high quality with humility. You stay open to alternative directions and welcome feedback.
• You’re driven by craft with a sharp eye for detail, and care deeply about the how, not just the what. You think in systems, flows, and structures, not just surfaces.
• You love working closely with engineers and get excited going into the weeds of data, logic, and technical constraints. You push for clarity, usability, and thoughtful interaction design and navigate constraints elegantly.
• You go beyond pixels and Figma files, and use AI tools to go fast and communicate through working prototypes.
