Project Engineer - Civil
Roles and Responsibilities
- Support the project team in review of construction methodologies proposed by contractors, especially for technically sensitive areas (e. g. , equipment foundations, embedded services).
- Assist in coordination meetings with design consultants, MEP specialists, and vendors during the construction readiness stage, to flag execution‑level concerns.
- Based full‑time at the construction site, supporting both Civil / MEP works in coordination with Project Coordinator.
- Collaborate with Project Coordinator and discipline‑specific engineers to coordinate daily activities of multiple contractors handling Civil, Electrical, Mechanical, Plumbing, and Fire Fighting works.
- Review and validate daily manpower deployment submitted by contractors; ensure actual availability on site and escalates deviations.
- Plan and issue daily work fronts to Civil and MEP contractors in alignment with micro‑level schedules derived from the master plan.
- Monitor progress of work packages and report slippages, constraints, and mitigation plans.
- Liaise with the Project Coordinator to integrate data from Civil and MEP fronts into unified daily progress reports.
- Monitor contractor compliance to HSE protocols across all trades; highlight unsafe practices for immediate rectification.
- Review construction drawings and ensure contractors are executing works in full compliance with latest issued drawings—Civil structural elements, MEP services layouts, and shop drawings.
- Ensure strict adherence to technical specifications and manufacturer standards for MEP equipment and materials.
- Monitor site execution of MEP installations such as piping, ducting, cable trays, conduiting, and equipment placements for alignment and quality.
- Coordinate with contractor supervisors and foremen to resolve site‑level execution or sequencing issues, especially in MEP‑Civil interface zones.
- Assist the Project Coordinator in monitoring contractor supervisors, resolving site‑level coordination challenges.
- Assist in preparation and validation of construction and installation methodologies—particularly in congested services areas or where special construction techniques are proposed.
- Maintain and update MEP / Civil document logs including latest drawing revisions, approval registers, testing certificates, and method statements.
- Take accountability for verifying compliance to labour laws across all trades including ESI, PF, nil child labour and safety certifications of deployed workforce.
- Contribute to the preparation of safe and efficient construction and installation methodologies in consultation with the PM and discipline leads.
- Assist the Assistant Project Manager in site measurements, including joint measurements for MEP installations, quantity verification, and contractor billing validation.
- Basic awareness needed regarding NBC and NECIN protocols.
Diploma / bachelor’s degree in civil engineering with 3–6 years of experience.
