Role Overview
This position is responsible for the
-
- end operational delivery of complex technical projects, ensuring safety, quality, commercial performance, and customer satisfaction from bid stage through to practical completion and
- out. The role requires strong leadership, commercial awareness, and technical credibility within data centre, fibre, and construction/M&E environments. Key Responsibilities
Provide visible leadership on Health & Safety, ensuring compliance with all statutory, corporate, and
- specific requirements. Deliver projects in line with established ISO standards, governance frameworks, and internal delivery processes. Support bid and
- contract activities, contributing technical, commercial, and delivery input to ensure profitable and executable project awards. Lead
- commencement planning, including scope validation, methodology review, resourcing, programme development, and risk assessment. Manage supply chain engagement, maintaining effective relationships with subcontractors and resolving issues through agreed escalation processes. Work closely with commercial functions to ensure subcontractor performance, contractual compliance, and cost control throughout the project lifecycle. Identify, manage, and mitigate project risks while recognising and maximising commercial opportunities. Lead multidisciplinary delivery teams, setting clear objectives, roles, and accountabilities, and managing performance accordingly. Ensure all works are delivered safely, to specification, and in line with agreed programmes. Provide accurate and timely
- facing progress reports using approved reporting tools and formats. Prepare internal management reports, cost/value reconciliations, programme forecasts, and contract reviews with a focus on accuracy and integrity. Maintain strong client relationships through clear communication, expectation management, and delivery excellence. Lead projects through to successful completion, including defect resolution, documentation handover, and formal
- out. Act as a subject matter expert within relevant technical or sector disciplines. Conduct performance reviews, mentoring, and development planning for direct reports. Represent the organisation professionally with clients, partners, and stakeholders. Maintain strict confidentiality and comply with all data protection and information security requirements. Essential Skills & Experience
Extensive experience delivering fibre network installations and associated infrastructure works. Minimum 5 years’ experience in a comparable Project Manager role. Strong background in data centre, construction, and M&E environments. Demonstrable leadership and people management capability. Proven commercial awareness, including profit & loss, cost control, and risk management. Experience working on international projects or within global delivery environments. High level of IT proficiency, including Microsoft Word, Excel, Project, and Power
Point. Recognised project management qualification (PMP or equivalent). Formal education in Project Management, Engineering, or a related discipline (or significant equivalent trade experience). Data centre–specific certification or proven delivery experience in
- critical environments. Valid industry and safety certifications (e. G. SMSTS, IOSH Managing Safely, CSCS, ECS).
