We’re looking for a seasoned Backend Engineer to join an agile team and play a key role in designing and maintaining the core services that power its AI-driven platform. You’ll work with modern technologies, contribute directly to improving healthcare delivery, and collaborate closely with Product, Design, and AI teams.

What you’ll do

Design and implement backend services in Python (Fast
API preferred)

Build and document clear, reliable REST APIs for web and mobile applications

Package and deploy services with Docker , automating deployments to AWS

Design schemas, write queries, and optimize performance in Postgre
SQL

Manage flexible, unstructured data using Mongo
DB

Write tests, add logs and alerts, and monitor system performance and uptime

Proactively identify and resolve issues before they impact users

Collaborate with
- functional teams (Product, Design, AI) to deliver meaningful improvements every week

Requirements

Strong professional experience with Python backend development (Fast
API preferred)

Hands-on experience with containerized deployments (Docker) on AWS

Solid database knowledge with Postgre
SQL and Mongo
DB

Proven track record of building and maintaining scalable backend services

Portuguese and english are a must

✨ Nice to have

Experience in healthcare or related industries

Interest in Large Language Models (LLMs) and NLP technologies (no need to be an expert)

Start : Immediate

Location : Mostly remote. Onboarding phase: 1 per week, based in Lisbon

Engagement : Freelance, via Shakers - long term
