Overview
Corporate Quality Engineer is responsible for meeting all Customer expectations of all quality deliverables during programs development phase. The position is also accountable for developing, optimizing and continuously improving a Supplier’s quality system to assure that all JAC products will meet or exceed our Customer specifications. Has the overall responsibility for the definition and implementation of corporate and plant quality procedures into their programs.
Key Accountabilities
- Owner of customer responses and activities during program development assigned to him/her; this includes but is not limited to obtaining data on customer specific web portals, visiting customer locations, analysing and completing data for PPAP submission and approval.
- Effectively supports and understands the JAC Products Development System (JPDS) and overall launch responsibility and deliverables.
- Supports the definition and customer approval of Criteria Appearance Standards. Assure its deployment to suppliers by facilitating boundary samples and appearance criteria understanding.
- Responsible for creating internal boundary samples, process control plans, gage instructions, standard sheets, operator work instructions and incoming inspection instructions.
- Manages supplier launch readiness and PPAP approvals for assigned suppliers. Primary contact for organization regarding performance of supplier on new program launches (does not include commercial issues).
- Collection and review of internal and external containment data for program development and launch on each assigned program. Provide summary of results and support Project Team on the implementation of corrective actions.
- Plans, executes, and follows up on supplier assessments. Onsite representative with scheduled visitation. This may require full time visitation.
- Support selection, development, and supervision of the suppliers and outside processors. Co-monitoring and reporting of suppliers’ global performance and evaluation.
- Use statistical analysis tools to drive and support changes to the process to reduce variability and improve overall manufacturing performance.
- Collaborates with Purchasing, Manufacturing, Assembly and Engineering to resolve deviations from established specifications and quality standards.
- Responsible for training Business Unit team members and operators on proper gaging process, gage work instructions, inspection instructions, boundary samples, customer appearance standards.
- Leads,
- leads, or assists in audits of the Quality Management System; includes compliance to existing work instructions, processes, and forms. Includes internal and customer driven audits.
Skills/Competencies
- Exterior Automotive Visual Appearance requirements.
- Advanced knowledge of OEM quality standards, systems, and processes.
- Advanced technical knowledge of relevant manufacturing processes such as: injection molding, extrusion, fabrication, metal
- forming, surface finish. - Strong understanding of statistical process control and how to use data to drive decisions.
- Successful Product Launch / Production Start-up experience including all documentation, testing, data collection, and reporting.
- Experience leading the PPAP process to successful conclusion.
- Understanding of AIAG guidelines for automotive.
- Advanced knowledge and practical application of Problem Solving / Process Improvement analysis, tools, and techniques.
- Maintain a
- oriented working environment that allows for individual differences and provides for individual growth. - Knowledge of Datum Structure and Design for Manufacturing.
- Ability to travel to other JAC manufacturing locations – both air and ground.
- Proficient in MS Office Suite (Outlook, Excel, Word, Power
Point). - English speaking is mandatory
