Paço de Arcos, Portugal (Hybrid)
We are currently looking for a RAMS Engineer to join Hitachi Rail. To be appointed and required for a given individual project/product development, from the specification to the acceptance of the product/solution.
Key Responsibilities and Tasks
- Producing a RAM Plan and/or Safety Plan;
- Performing Hazard Identification ( HAZIDs ) studies;
- Performing FTA , FMECAs , and creating Event Trees using appropriate software tools;
- Performing reliability prediction analyses using RBDs and FMEA techniques; RBDS (reliability block Diagrams)
- Managing the Project/Product Hazard Log;
- Producing a Safety Case and/or Technical Safety Reports;
- To perform peer reviews of RAMS tasks outputs as appointed and required for a given project;
- Participation in safety assessments, technical project reviews and audits undertaken throughout the project/product lifecycle;
- Raising alerts when safety is jeopardized;
- Establish and maintain effective communications with other project roles including Customer personnel, as necessary.
Technical competencies
- At least Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Electronics, Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
- Undertake RAMS engineering activities for a given individual project as requested, such as:
- Producing a RAM Plan and/or Safety Plan, as applicable
- Performing Hazard Identification (HAZIDs) studies and HAZOPs, as required
- Performing FTA, FMECAs, and creating Event Trees using appropriate software tools
- Performing reliability prediction analyses using RBDs and FMEA techniques
- Managing the Project Hazard Log
- To perform peer reviews of RAMS tasks outputs
- Managing SRACs and exported constraints to the appropriate user (Operation, Maintenance, etc. ), if applicable
- Proven experience of at least five years in railway signalling systems, with a particular focus on electronic interlockings and ETCS Level 2 systems.
Job-related skills
- Ability to write accurate and detailed reports
- Ability to manage multi‑tasking
- Knowledge of railway CENELEC standards such as EN 50126-1 & -2, EN 50128 and EN 50129
- Establish and maintain effective communications with other project roles, such as engineering, project management and V&V
- Ability to effectively communicate and report, in both verbal and written English (mandatory) and Portuguese (preferably) on technical matters

- Proactive and problem‑solving oriented
- Sense of autonomy and perseverance
- Sense of responsibility and accuracy
