R&D Manager/Technical Lead - Relocation required to Lisbon area (Supported financially)

Location: Lisbon, Portugal

Salary: €70, 000 – €80, 000 (depending on experience) + Relocation Package + Benefits

Type: Full-Time | Reports to: CEO

Our client is looking for a Technical Lead/R&D Manager with CMOS/Image Processing/CCD background who can help lead a growing engineering team and work with Sales/Leadership to evolve, design and develop the next generation products and solutions.

What You’ll Do

• Own the roadmap and set the technology vision.
• Lead and inspire a growing engineering team (currently 4 and scaling).
• Drive innovation in optics, image processing, and emerging technologies.
• Collaborate globally, influencing how products evolve and how technology powers company growth.

• Shape the technology roadmap for growth and innovation.

• Oversee design and deployment of edge products.
• Safeguard systems with robust cybersecurity strategies.
• Partner with leaders across the business to ensure customer needs guide development.
• Master resources and budgets to support scaling.

What You Bring

• Bachelor’s or Master’s in Computer Science, Engineering, Optics, Image Processing, IT, or similar.
• 3+ years in senior technical leadership (Engineering Manager, Technical Lead, Head of R&D).
• Solid expertise in Electronics/Hardware/Firmware or Embedded Systems in image processing, CMOS, Optronics/Lasers would be ideal.
• Proven ability to build and inspire

• Strategic mindset linking technology to
  - term business growth.
• Excellent communicator with both technical and
  - technical audiences.
• Resilient, decisive, and able to thrive under pressure.

Bonus Points

• Experience in machine vision, life sciences, photonics, or CMOS-based learning.
• Exposure to AI, data science, or machine learning.
• Familiarity with Agile frameworks and product management.
