About Siemens Foundational Technologies Department
Siemens Foundational Technology is the central
- house R&D unit at Siemens and an integral part of Siemens' innovation ecosystem. It serves as a strategic partner to support Siemens’ business units with R&D services, contributing to the company’s intellectual property portfolio and coordinating collaboration with top universities worldwide. Through its R&D activities in Germany, USA, Portugal, China, India, and Eastern Europe, it helps ensure the company’s technological future. 
Your mission will be…
We are seeking a highly skilled Research Engineer who will contribute to the applied research and pre‑development of next‑generation solutions for energy management and sustainability of buildings and industrial sites, energy supply chains, and infrastructure.
- Design and execute research projects to address complex technical challenges and contribute to innovations in the energy management business.
- Drive rapid iteration and prototyping to quickly validate research ideas.
- Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to translate research findings into actionable recommendations for product enhancements.
- Contribute to the company’s intellectual property portfolio.
- Impact research and publicly funded projects with universities, research institutes, and industry partners.
- Have a deep understanding of industry trends and technological advancements, integrating relevant findings into ongoing projects.
We are looking for someone with…
- Master’s or Ph. D. degree in Energy Systems Engineering, Electrical engineering (or equivalent professional experience).
- 5+ years of experience in a research role, focusing on energy management solutions.
- Proven track record of delivering applied research and development results.
- Demonstrated proficiency in energy engineering tools and methodologies.
- Experience with programming languages such as Python and Golang.
- Fluent English.
- Agile style of working with focus on results.
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills with a detail‑oriented approach.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to convey complex concepts to a diverse audience.
- A passion for innovation and a commitment to continuous learning and improvement.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with energy simulation tools such as Energy
 Plus.
- Experience in applied machine learning and artificial intelligence.
- Contribution to publications and recognition in the professional community.
