A call is now open for applications for the award of a Research Fellowship (BI) (Reference REQUIMTE 2025-53), at Laboratório Associado para a Química Verde - Tecnologias e Processos Limpos - UID/50006, with the financial support of the FCT/ MECI through national funds, is available at REQUIMTE, under the following conditions:

Main research field: Communication Sciences

Admission requirements:

• BSc degree in Communication Sciences. Frequency of the MSc in a related area or to be enrolled and/or attending a
  - degree course taught by a higher education institution in collaboration with an R&D unit.
• Experience in image and audio capture (video and photography), video editing (Adobe Premiere or equivalent software), audio editing and processing (Adobe Audition, Audacity, or similar), knowledge of tools such as Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, or Inkscape, graphic design and illustration, creation of graphical abstracts, diagrams, and infographics, as well as basic knowledge of web interface design (banners, icons, optimized images).

In case the BSc degree was awarded by a foreign higher education institution, it must comply with the provisions of Decree-Law no. 341/2007 of October 12th, and all formalities established therein must be complied with at the signature of Fellowship contract.

Working plan:

Objectives and Work Plan:

• Production of animated educational videos in microbiology
• Development of laboratory tutorial videos in microbiology/microbiomes
• Recording, editing, and
  - production of podcast episodes
• Creation of graphic and audiovisual materials for the LAQV’s website and social media platforms.

Workplace: The work will be conducted at REQUIMTE, i
B2Lab laboratory, located at the Faculty of Sciences of the University of Porto, under the scientific supervision of Master Lara Amorim and Doctor Nuno Mariz Ponte.

Duration of the fellowship: The fellowship will have duration of three months, possibly renewable for equal periods up to a maximum total duration of six months, starting on October 2025.

Monthly stipend:

Monthly stipend is €1. 040, 98 according to the stipend values established by FCT, I. P. in Portugal (https://www.fct. pt/wp-content/uploads/2025/02/Tabela_valores_SMM_2025. p… ). Payment will be made by bank transfer on a monthly basis. The successful candidate will also be entitled to the reimbursement of Social Security payments (Seguro Social Voluntário) and work insurance.

Selection criteria: The selection methods will be:

1. Curriculum Assessment – 50%• Proven experience in the production and editing of audiovisual and graphic content (25%)• Knowledge of illustration tools (25%)2. Portfolio Review – 50%• Evaluation of previous work (e. g. , videos, animations, podcasts, or multimedia materials) (15%)• Relevance and visual/technical quality of the submitted work (15%)• Creativity and clarity in communication (20%)In the case of admitted candidates whose evaluation does not differ more than 10% from that obtained by the best positioned candidate, the jury will interview these candidates. In this situation, the value of the interview is 30%.

The jury will not award the current scholarship to candidates with a final classification lower than 50%.

Jury composition:

Publicity and communication of results: The ranking of applications will be published at a visible and public area of REQUIMTE facilities, and all candidates will be informed by email about the result of their application.
