Research Funding Manager
Champalimaud Foundation is actively looking for a Research Funding Manager. If you are passionate about science and ready to be challenged daily while you help bring some of the most promising research ideas in neuroscience, behaviour, physiology and cancer into reality, this opportunity may be for you.
By joining the Strategic Research Development team at CF, you shall dive into an expanding research ecosystem, the success of which is visible in its internationality, scientific output, entrepreneurial spirit, and competitiveness in the securing of extramural funds for research. Within the team, you shall find a unique collaborative environment allowing you to further develop your professional career at the interface of research and management.
The position
As Research Funding Manager, you are expected to actively support our research community to thrive in the fierce competition for national and international sponsored funds for research, by advising and assisting them throughout the
- award and award stages of the grant life cycle, as well as creatively promoting alternative sources for research funding.
This shall include but not be limited to:
- Monitoring Funding Opportunities Landscape | e. g. , scouting for the most appropriate funding opportunities fitting the research needs of our community; active and targeted dissemination;
- Grant preparation | e. g. , serve as the point of contact to funding entities; support the development and reviewing of specific elements of the proposals following sponsor requirements and institutional guidelines - costing, ethics, others; draft (non-scientific) elements of the proposal as required;
- Award setup | e. g. , assist with contract negotiations and approvals, providing a smooth transition of grant administration to the
- award team upon award.
You are also expected to contribute to the continuous development of the team. The constant adjustment of the offered support to the dynamic needs of our research community and the close interface with internal support, tech and research teams is a must.
The sought profile
You are:
- An outstanding team player;
- An energetic and
- oriented individual;
- Able to cope with multiple tight deadlines throughout the year;
- Someone who thrives well in
- scientific type of support (e. g. assessing eligibility criteria, assist with budget and
- oriented support, ensuring compliance with documentation requirements for the submission and award stages) as in the development of interdisciplinary and
- sectoral consortia;
- A sound scientific background, with a degree in a relevant research field (e. g. medical and health sciences, life sciences, exact sciences, human sciences) and research experience, equivalent to a Ph
D or, alternatively, substantial relevant professional experience;
You have:
- Written and spoken English and Portuguese proficiency;
- Exceptional organizational skills and high attention to detail;
- Experience in developing and transforming ideas into grant proposals - individual or collaborative - will be favourably considered but it is not mandatory.
